Únase a la reunión pública virtual del Incendio Cameron Peak esta noche a las 7:30 pm en Facebook Live

Ayer, el Jefe de Operaciones del Pacific Northwest Team 10 tomo un vuelo de observación hacia el sur del incendio. No se observó ningunas áreas térmicas a lo largo del perímetro contenido del sureste. El humo visible del fuego escapado de North Fork (también conocido como The Bulge) parece ser grandes árboles caídos con fuego latente. Si las condiciones lo permiten, los helicópteros harán descargas de agua en estas áreas térmicas aisladas hoy. Ayer, en la sección noroeste del incendio, los equipos procesaron madera y rehabilitaron líneas de dozer. Los bomberos repararon el sendero ecuestre al sur de Red Feather Lakes Road e hicieron mejoras en Mt. Clover Road en el lado norte. En la sección sureste de la División X / Y, las brigadas terminaron el trabajo y están reposicionando el equipo a otras áreas del incendio. El lunes 16 de noviembre de 2020, el Northwest Incident Management Team 10 (IMT) delegó el mando del incendio Cameron Peak en tierras estatales y privadas a la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Larimer. El IMT permanecerá en su lugar y continuará sus esfuerzos en tierras federales. Yesterday, the Incident Management Team’s Operations Chief took an observation flight to the south side of the fire. No heat was seen along the contained southeast perimeter. The smoke visible from the North Fork slop over (aka The Bulge) appears to be large, downed trees that are smoldering. If conditions permit, helicopters will make water drops on these areas of isolated heat today. Yesterday in the northwest section of the fire, crews processed wood and rehabbed dozer lines. Firefighters repaired the equestrian trail south of Red Feather Lakes Road, and they made improvement on the Mt. Clover Road on the north side. In the southeast section in Division X/Y, crews wrapped up work and are repositioning equipment into other areas of the fire. In the Pingree Park area, conditions were favorable for a helicopter to release four loads of water onto the “small campfires” still smoldering there.

Strong winds persist today, coming mostly from the southwest with gusts over 50 mph possible. Resources are available to act if any flare ups occur. In the northwest section in Division D, crews will work on restoration of hand line along the 86 Road, and they will perform chipping operations on roads 173 and 523. In the northern section in Division L, crews plan on finishing rehabilitation work near the Boy Scout camp, and they have more work on the equestrian trail along with slash dispersal within the area. Work on the Mt. Clover Road to Molly Lake continues. Repair on the 340 Road finger is ongoing. In the northeast section in Division T, crews will conduct repair efforts along the 407 Road and will repair dozer line in Sky Ranch. Firefighters will be chipping on Buckhorn Road. If weather cooperates, a helicopter will use buckets to again drop water in the smoldering pockets near Pingree Park.

On Monday, November 16, 2020, Northwest Incident Management Team 10 (IMT) delegated command of the Cameron Peak Fire on state and private lands to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. The IMT will remain in place and continue their efforts on federal lands. The IMT will not have completed all suppression repairs on state and private lands by the time this transition takes place. Larimer County will assume responsibility for the remaining repairs and will assess those areas in Spring 2021. This will be coordinated through the Larimer County Office of Emergency Management. Questions regarding needed suppression repairs on state and private lands should be sent to oem@larimer.org.

Ayer, en la sección noroeste del incendio, los equipos despejaron nieve para garantizar que la maquinaria pesada y los trabajadores tuvieran acceso seguro para procesar madera y rehabilitar las líneas de dozers. Yesterday, in the northwest section of the fire, crews plowed snow to ensure heavy equipment and staff had safe access to process wood and rehab dozer lines. Firefighters repaired the equestrian trail south of Red Feather Lakes Road, and they made progress on the Mt. Clover Road. In the southeast section, crews continued work in the Dunraven Trail and The Retreat areas to decrease fuel loads and perform suppression repair. In the Bobcat Ridge area, crews continued dozer line repair work. Crews made more headway on cutting the access line into the smoldering Pingree Park Area; this work is ongoing. Smoke was visible near the North Fork slop over, but the wind did not allow aircraft to be utilized for reconnaissance. Fire managers are confident these pockets of fuel and large logs will only smolder beneath the snow and pose little threat to the community. Firefighters will keep monitoring and patrolling the fire area. Resources are available to act if any flare ups occur.

Today, firefighters will safely engage in suppression repair throughout the fire area. On the 86 Road, crews will work on rehabilitation of hand line. In the north, crews will rehabilitate dozer lines along Red Feather Lakes Road, work on the equestrian trail and continue slash dispersal in the area. Weather is looking favorable to launch a helicopter for bucket work in the smoldering pockets near Pingree Park. If the helicopter is unable to fly, crews will keep on hiking and cutting their way into the area and they will scatter debris to reduce fuel load.

Ayer, a pesar de la advertencia de viento emitida, se consideró seguro para los bomberos ingresar al campo. En la sección noroeste del incendio, se despejó la nieve de las carreteras con apoyo terrestre y las excavadoras trabajaron a lo largo de la carretera 86. Fue un día muy exitoso ya que los equipos iniciaron la reparación del sendero ecuestre al sur de Red Feather Lakes Road y continuaron la reparación de la carretera en Mt. Clover, y continuaron la rehabilitación de las líneas de dozer en tierra privada. La línea de dozers en la 68C Road ha sido reparada y está lista para inspección. Los equipos también trabajaron en el retorno de suministros. En la sección sureste, en el área de Dunraven Trail y The Retreat, las brigadas continuaron trabajando en la reparación y astillado para disminuir las cargas de combustible forestales. Yesterday, despite the issued wind advisory, it was deemed safe for firefighters to enter the field.  In the northwest section of the fire, snow was cleared off the roads by ground support and excavators worked along the 86 Road. It was a very successful day as crews launched repair of the equestrian trail south of Red Feather Lakes Road, continued road repair on Mt. Clover, and resumed private land dozer line restoration. The dozer line on the 68C Road has been repaired and is ready for inspection. Crews also worked on equipment backhaul.  In the southeast section, in the Dunraven Trail and The Retreat area, crews continued work on repair and chipping in order to decrease fuel loads. Crews completed repair on three sections of handline in Lazy B Ranch off Pingree Park Road. In the Bobcat Ridge area, crews continued dozer repair work. Throughout the day, crews patrolling the fire perimeter reported a slight haze and smell of smoke in the Pingree Park area.  Fire managers are confident these pockets of fuel and large logs will simply smolder beneath the snow over a period of time posing little threat to the community. A Multi Mission Aircraft (MMA) completed an Infrared (IR) flight and some scattered heat was found in the interior of the fire. These areas will continue to be monitored and patrolled and resources are available to respond if needed.

Today, the wind is forecast to subside allowing firefighters to safely engage in suppression repair. Many of today’s tasks are comparable to yesterday’s. On the 86 Road, crews will work on rehabilitation of hand line cut into the ground during suppression activity. In addition, crews will repair dozer lines along Red Feather Lakes Road, work on the equestrian trail and continue slash dispersal in the area. Rehabilitation of handline and dozerline will also include the Glen Echo area, Upper Manhattan and the area near the Buckhorn Road.

As of today, crews have repaired 60.5 miles of fire line and 64 miles of roads.

Ayer, con las condiciones similares a una tormenta de nieve en la parte norte del incendio casi se detuvieron todos los esfuerzos de rehabilitación de supresión. Esto les ofreció a las brigadas la oportunidad de actualizar los datos de GPS y planificar esfuerzos coordinados en las próximas semanas cuando el equipo de mando de incidentes cambie. En el área de Red Feather Lakes, las cuadrillas reposicionaron maquinaria pesada para comenzar con el trabajo del futuro. En la sección sureste del incendio cerca de Masonville las brigadas tuvieron mejores condiciones climáticas y pudieron utilizar dozers para trabajos de rehabilitación cerca de Bobcat Ridge. En las áreas al oeste de Pingree Park y el campus de CSU, las 4-8 pulgadas de nieve pronosticadas cayeron y el servicio meteorológico pronosticó la posibilidad de más.

Hoy, se pronunció un aviso de viento con vientos de 30 a 40 mph y ráfagas de hasta 75 mph. Antes de enviar bomberos al campo, los supervisores están averiguando áreas que tendrán seguridad y visibilidad. Si se considera seguro hoy, los bomberos iniciarán la reparación del sendero ecuestre al sur de Red Feather Lakes Road, continuarán la reparación de la carretera en Mt. Clover, y continuarán la rehabilitación de las líneas de dozers en tierra privada. Yesterday, the blizzard like conditions in the northern portion of the fire nearly halted all suppression repair efforts on the ground. This provided crews an opportunity to update GPS data and plan for coordinated efforts in the upcoming weeks when the incident management team transitions. In the Red Feather Lakes area, crews pre-positioned heavy equipment to begin future work. The southeast section of the fire area near Masonville experienced better weather conditions and crews were able to utilize dozers for repair work near Bobcat Ridge. In areas west of Pingree Park and the CSU Campus, the predicted 4-8 inches of snow fell with the weather service predicting the possibility of more.

Today, there was a wind advisory issued for winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 75 mph. Prior to sending crews into the field, supervisors are scouting out the areas for safety and visibility. If it is deemed safe today, firefighters will launch repair of the equestrian trail south of Red Feather Lakes Road, continue road repair on Mt. Clover, and will resume private land dozer line restoration. On the southeast section, the Dunraven Trail area and The Retreat area will be repaired and branches will be chipped in order to reduce fuel loads. In the Bobcat Ridge area, crews will continue dozer repair work, which should be finalized within the next three days.  Crews will continue hiking and cutting their way into the area in Pingree Park by the CSU campus, the area that was putting up smoke prior to the snow fall. The many “little campfires” that remain will be scattered by crews in a ‘fuels dispersion mission’.  A Multi Mission Aircraft (MMA) was ordered for an infrared flight to check for any lingering heat signatures after the recent snowfall. Throughout the day, crews will remain on patrol checking for hotspots and potential flare-ups.

Se pronostica que habrá entre 4 y 8 pulgadas de nieve en las áreas al oeste de Pingree Park y el campus de CSU. Today, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for areas above 9000 feet and a severe wind advisory for areas below 9000 feet. It is forecasted there will be 4-8 inches of snow in areas west of Pingree Park and the CSU Campus. Due to the wind, there is a small potential for single tree torching, but there is not concern for a rapid rate of fire spread due to patchy snow. The bitter wind and whipping snow forecasted for today will be challenging for firefighters to work in while doing suppression and repair work.  Firefighter safety is our top priority and they will not be engaging in suppression repair due to the risk of frostbite and driving our high profile vehicles in such dangerous wind conditions, but we have ground troops ready and available to engage flare ups do occur.  In the upcoming days, when crews are able to safely reengage firefighters will continue processing on the 86 and 523 roads in the northwest section. They will launch repair of the equestrian trail south of Red Feather Lakes Road, continue road repair on Mt. Clover, and will continue private land dozer line restoration. On the southeast section, the Dunraven Trail area and The Retreat area will be repaired and branches will be chipped.  Throughout the day, crews will remain on patrol checking for hotspots and potential flare-ups.

According to Steven North, Operations Section Chief, “Yesterday was one of those days we really had our foot on the gas and we got a lot of work done.” Throughout the day, firefighters effectively and efficiently continued the suppression repair efforts. On the northwest section of the fire, crews continued processing timber on the 523 and 86 roads. On the 86 Road, they also worked on rehabbing hand line cut into the ground during suppression activity. Crews also rehabilitated dozer lines along Red Feather Lakes Road and continued slash dispersal in the area. Near Glen Echo, hand line and dozer line repair activities were productive. In the Upper Manhattan area, hand line repair activities continued. Crews made great headway cutting the access line into the pocket of smoldering fuels that is putting up smoke in Pingree Park near the CSU campus.  Line rehab continued near Buckhorn Road. The dozer line near Bobcat Ridge has now been repaired. Chipping operations have been completed on the southeast portion of the fire and on Storm Mountain, the dozer line on the Galuchie Gulch has been successfully repaired. During the midday hours, high winds stirred up quite a bit of dust and ash within the fire area, especially near Masonville. Crews patrolling the area reported no increase of fire activity due to the wind gusts.

Today, the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for areas above 9000 feet and a severe wind advisory for areas below 9000 feet. Northwest winds 30-40 mph with gusts up to 75 are expected.  It is forecasted there will be 4-8 inches of snow in areas west of Pingree Park and the CSU Campus. As this storm moves out on Sunday, the Rocky Mountains will experience a drying trend throughout the week, with warmer temperatures and lighter winds in the area early next week.
