The virtual community meeting scheduled at 7:00 tonight for the Brattain Fire has been canceled.  A new meeting date and time has not been determined.  The Brattain fire is currently burning approximately 10 miles south of Paisley.  The fire is burning in sagebrush-juniper with stringers of Ponderosa Pine in steep, rugged terrain with limited access points and high winds.
 
Yesterday's Operations: 
Winds continue to be a factor for the Brattain Fire.  Weather patterns, terrain and limited access contributed to fire growth. 

Today’s Operations:  
Firefighters are directing operations in a proactive response to forecasted weather conditions, including a Red Flag Warning in the area from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday for strong, gusty winds and low relative humidity over the fire area.  Local resources and fire management have determined that current conditions allow for burning operations in an effort to protect the City of Paisley and outlying residences ahead of forecasted weather.  The evacuation level was raised to 3 for public safety during these operations.

Evacuations:  
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has issued a Level 3 (Go) evacuation notice for the Brattain Fire Southwest of Paisley. The Level 3 “Go” notice is for all residents of Paisley. From Red House Lane (north of Paisley), South on Highway 31 to Clover Flat Road onto Clover Flat Road to Forest Service Road 3510 (Moss Pass Road).

The Red Cross is establishing an evacuation area at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeview (1900 North 4th St.).  There will be fire information there as well.     

Closures:
The Fremont-Winema National Forest issued emergency fire closure order 06-02-03-20-02 for the area east and south of Forest Road 28 and Forest Road 3315, also known as the High Road.  Both roads remain open.  Forest Road 33 is closed at the Forest Boundary south of Paisley to the junction with Forest Road 28.  Forest Road 3510, which makes the southern edge of the closure area is closed, as is Forest Road 3510-018 from Clover Flat Road to the Forest Boundary.  All recreation sites within the closure area are closed, including Marster Spring and Chewaucan Crossing Campgrounds, Jones Crossing Forest Camp, Moss Meadow Horse Camp, Moss Pass Trailhead and Campground, Hanan/Coffeepot Trailhead and the Fremont National Recreation Trail.   

Safety:
For those in the evacuation area, it is anticipated there will be congestion on Hwy 31, fire traffic and temporary loss of power.  Please use caution leaving the area.  

PAISLEY, OR – The Brattain Fire is currently burning on the Paisley Ranger District of the Fremont-Winema National Forest.

The fire was discovered late last night.  It is one of three wildfires sparked on Monday during the fire weather event.  The other two fires included a small fire off U.S. Highway 97 that was suppressed quickly and the Two Four Two Fire that is currently burning in the Chiloquin area.  All three fires are currently under investigation.

The Brattain Fire is located near Morgan Butte, approximately 10 miles south of Paisley.  It is currently estimated to be 300 acres with no containment.

The fire is moving from Brattain Butte west-southwest towards the Chewaucan River and Coffeepot Flat.  There is spotting 100 to 200 yards ahead of the fire due to strong winds.

It is burning in sagebrush-juniper with stringers of Ponderosa pine.

High winds have presented a challenge today, with aircraft needing to shutdown due to winds.  The Red Flag Warning currently in effect over the area for strong gusty winds and low relative humidity expires at midnight tonight.

There are multiple resources on the fire, including five engines, one helitack and one dozer.

Other resources have been ordered for the fire.  However, due to increased fire activity in the Pacific Northwest, California, and other parts of the country there is a general shortage of resources and it is less likely that the orders for the Brattain Fire will be filled.

Local and regional resources currently assigned to the fire are working with area fire managers to leverage the skillset and resources available to effectively fight the fire.

Area residents and visitors are advised to use caution in the area, especially with increased fire traffic around Coffeepot Flat off Forest Road 33.

They are also reminded that we are still in fire season, public use restrictions are in effect and there is a need for continued caution and vigilance with anything that can throw a spark and start a wildfire.  This includes campfires, motor vehicle use, chainsaws and smoking.

ANUNCIO: el Equipo Gray de Gestión de Incidentes del Área Sur delegará la gestión del incendio de Big Hollow a una unidad local de comando de incidentes Tipo 4 a partir del lunes a las 6:00 AM.  Gracias por su amable bienvenida y apoyo continuo durante nuestro tiempo aquí. Tenga en cuenta que hay un nuevo número de teléfono y correo electrónico para recibir información del incendio.

El departamento del bosque solicitó un Equipo de Respuesta de Emergencia para Áreas Quemadas (BAER en inglés). Este equipo se especializa en analizar las condiciones posteriores a un incendio, y hace evaluaciones y recomendaciones para evitar que se presenten más problemas en la zona después del incendio.

Situación actual: se esperan lluvia dispersa durante la noche. Se ordenó un vuelo de reconocimiento para tener una lectura precisa de la superficie y ayudar a determinar la ubicación de los focos actuales. Las carreteras mojadas y con lodo siguen con acceso limitado temporalmente para ser patrulladas.

Operaciones de hoy: las temperaturas alcanzarán cerca de los 70 grados, y los cielos estarán despejados. Un equipo local y 2 camiones de bomberos permanecerán en el área para vigilar y patrullar el incendio.

ANUNCIO: La orden de evacuación para las cabañas ubicadas en Government Mineral Springs, cerca de los espacios naturales de Trapper Creek, fue reducida a Nivel 1 ("ESTAR PREPARADO"). Los residentes pueden volver a la zona pero deben ser conscientes de que el peligro todavía existe. Tenga cuidado y preste atención a la maquinaria pesada y los equipos de bomberos que siguen trabajando en el área.
