Yesterday: Fixed wing scoopers and helicopters were used extensively, dropping water to delay fire movement to the west and south. Delaying the fire's progression gives firefighters additional time needed to secure and improve containment lines. Helicopters were also used for aerial ignition, adding depth to previously burned containment lines near Slide Peak; and working in conjunction with firefighters hand lighting along the containment line from Crescent Hill to Junior Spike late in the day. Engines and crews continued mop-up and patrol from Twenty-five Mile Creek State Park to Chesapeake Saddle to better secure containment lines.

To the south, firefighters sought and extinguished areas of heat, improving fire lines around Slide Ridge. 

Heavy equipment repaired sections of Forest Road 8410 to keep it viable for safe use by fire suppression equipment and completed relocation of a portion of the primary containment line to a more defensible position west of Slide Peak. 

Firefighters continued maintenance of pumps and hose lays around structures along Lake Chelan and in the First Creek subdivision to ensure that equipment is ready for use as needed.

Today: Heavy equipment will continue repair work on both Forest Road 8410 and on Forest Road 5900 near Shady Pass for fire traffic safety.  To the south, just west of Slide Peak, firefighters are ready to implement additional burning toward Stormy Mountain as conditions allow. The forecast indicates favorable winds for this effort later today. To the north, the fire perimeter near Twenty-Five Mile State Park to Chesapeake Saddle remains in patrol status. Engines and firefighters will continue to hold, mop-up, and improve the fire line between Chesapeake Saddle and Junior Point. Firefighters also plan to continue burning operations between Junior Point and Crescent Hill. 

Structure assessments are complete along the Lake Chelan corridor and First Creek subdivision. Pumps and hose lays in these areas are in place and firefighters will continue to maintain the system so it will be ready for use if needed. Fire managers are also evaluating the need for this work to continue as containment lines have held in the area for a number of days. 

Weather and Fire Behavior: Clear sunny skies are expected today, with a warming and drying trend.   When wind alignment with terrain occurs, the higher temperatures and lower humidity, coupled with high amounts of dead and down vegetation will contribute to continued active burning. Visible columns of smoke from the interior of the fire can be anticipated throughout the day and into the evening.

Generally good air quality is expected throughout the forecast area today, with some visible smoke/haze overhead in some areas. Communities that are in closer proximity to the fire may see Moderate conditions in the morning with improvement later in the day. Leavenworth may see smoke from the nearby Nason fire in the evening hours.

A virtual Community Meeting will be live streamed tonight at 6:30 pm on the Twenty-five Mile Fire Facebook page. 

Yesterday: Active burning continued in the northwest corner of the fire, consuming pockets and islands of unburned vegetation south and east of Junior Point and Crescent Hill, well within containment lines. Light winds allowed firefighters to hand light along containment lines. Engines and crews mopped up to better secure containment lines and patrolled from Twenty-five Mile Creek State Park to Chesapeake Saddle. To the south, firefighters secured and mopped up to improve the fire lines around Slide Ridge. Heavy equipment and fire crews relocated a section of containment line from a mid-slope road up to old dozer lines on a ridge top near Stormy Mountain. Containment lines at mid-slope can be more easily compromised than those on ridgetops. Helicopters supported firefighters throughout the day, dropping water on areas of active burning on the western edge of the fire to delay fire spread, performing aerial ignition to add depth to previously burned containment lines, and providing a birds-eye view of what is going on with the fire.  

Today: Heavy equipment is repairing Forest Road 8410 and roads near Shady Pass for fire traffic safety. Improvement of containment lines towards Stormy Peak is ongoing in preparation for future firing and holding operations. Twenty-Five Mile State Park to Chesapeake Saddle remains in patrol status and there has been no active fire in that area over the past several days. Engines and firefighters will continue to hold, mop-up, and improve the fire line between Chesapeake Saddle and Junior Point on the North and around Slide Ridge to the South. As conditions allow, firefighters will continue burning operations to secure containment lines towards Stormy Mountain and from Junior Point to Crescent Hill and further south towards Angle Peak. 

Structure assessments are complete along the Lake Chelan corridor and First Creek subdivision. Pumps and hoselays in these areas are in place and firefighters will continue to maintain the system so it will be ready for use if needed. Fire managers are evaluating the need for this work to continue as containment lines are secure and have been holding for days. 

Weather and Fire Behavior: Higher humidity will linger this morning and into the afternoon but clearing skies will lead to warming temperatures later in the day. A frontal passage will finish moving through the area Sunday evening producing NW winds gusting up to 25 mph in some areas. When alignment occurs, the higher temperatures and increased wind, coupled with high amounts of dead and down vegetation could lead to active burning later in the day.

Smoke
Air quality looks much improved today as the weather pattern has shifted. While Good AQI is expected throughout the forecast area, the communities to the east of the fire may may not see the improvement until later in the day when the west winds shift more to the northwest.
