Moving Wood off the Camp Creek Fire

In order to protect the heavily forested Bull Run Watershed from the Camp Creek Fire, firefighters have cut down trees. Sometimes it's because the trees pose a falling hazard that could injure firefighters. Other times trees are cut to create fireline wide enough to stop the spread of the fire.
The Mount Hood National Forest and the Portland Water Bureau are working on a plan for repurposing the wood from those trees, and help area communities in the process.

While several hundred firefighters work long hours to contain the Camp Creek Fire, a group of people behind the scenes created and operate a place to make sure they are fed, fueled, and have a place to call home: Fire Camp. The Logistics Sections of the Incident Management Team was tasked with setting up two camps on this fire.
The first of the fire camps is the Meadows base camp, which includes an on-site caterer, a covered eating area, and various yurts set up as temporary offices to hand out supplies, provide medical treatment, and house other support services.
