Water bars are being installed along the the mechanically constructed fireline to divert water and prevent erosion as part of suppression repair activities.

Members of the Wallowa-Whitman Crew remove a hazard tree as part of the efforts to reduce heavy fuel loads on the forest floor.

The Camp Creek fire is burning in heavy fuels that include deep duff, decayed logs, and timber litter under a dense canopy. These heavy fuels dried out during the summer and will continue to smolder and burn in place with some creeping and minimal fire activity until there is significant precipitation.

Firefighters gathering for morning briefing on September 17 at the Marmot Forward Operating Base. The morning fire briefing is where fire personnel get a common operating picture for the day including safety messages, overall operations for the day, and weather and fire behavior forecasting.

Crews are removing some cut trees from the Bull Run area by semi-trailers and dump trucks. These trees were cut to increase firefighter safety and reduce potential fuel for this and future fires. Trucks will be traveling along Forest Service Road 14 to the East Barlow Trail Road, and then onto Highway 26. Log trucks will be accompanied by pilot cars, both ahead and behind for added public safety. Residents who use these routes should be cautious while this added traffic is present.
