Zigzag Hotshot Crew at Work

Heavy machinery helps, but people power is essential out on the Camp Creek Fire, where firefighters are working to develop containment line.
Attached below is a video showing members of the Zigzag Interagnecy Hotshot Crew, cutting, rolling, and hauling wood from a large cedar tree they felled. The tree had been rotting in place and needed to be removed as part of the fire suppression effort. The hotshot crew, based here on the Mt. Hood National Forest, is working this week along the southern edge of the fire. They are a group of 20 highly motivated and physically fit individuals who forgo all other activities during the fire season to respond to incidents.
The Zigzag Hotshots' goals are to demonstrate a strong work ethic, great teamwork, and commitment to safely completing difficult assignments.
