Prescribed fire pile burning begins today in the Twin Lakes area of the Bridgeport Ranger District. The project area is approximately 10 miles southeast of Bridgeport, California on the south side of Upper Twin Lakes and behind the Twin Lakes Resort on Lower Twin Lakes. Smoke may be visible. Prescribed fire pile burning continues this week in the Potosi Mountain area in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. The pile burning is occurring near Mile Marker 20 of Nevada State Highway 160, approximately one mile south of Mountain Springs, Nevada. Smoke is likely to be visible. Please do not report. The project will be on-going this week.

01142022 Whites Creek Pile Burning Continues

Pile burning will continue today in Whites Creek on the Carson Ranger District, near the Mt. Rose area southwest of Reno, Nevada. There will be no new burning over the weekend, though residual smoke may remain. Please do not call 911 to report. Due to the snow on the ground and wet conditions, burning is going slowly. The project is expected to finish up next week.

Conditions remain favorable for pile burning to continue in the Whites Creek area of the Carson Ranger District, five miles west of Reno, NV. Firefighters are on-site to monitor the prescribed fire project and the local fire department is aware of the pile burning. Please do not call 911 to report smoke that may be visible in the area.

A reminder that pile burning will continue all week in the Whites Creek area of the Arrowhawk Fuels Reduction Project, five miles west of Reno, Nevada. Smoke may be visible in the Mt. Rose area near Timberline Road. Please do not call 911. Local fire officials are aware of this pile burning project and Forest Service employees are on site, monitoring the project.

18 acres was treated last week, and if weather conditions continue to be favorable, pile burning will continue through Thursday this week.
