SR 77 is closed in both directions between US 70 and SR 177 in Winkelman, due to the Telegraph Fire.  That is the road that connects Globe and Winkleman.   Overnight firefighters continued to monitor and mop up the fire perimeter along U.S. Route 60 and near the Top-of-the-World community.  Smoke will be visible to the public for days or weeks as interior islands of unburned fuel are consumed by fire. Fire in the Pinal/Signal Peak area advanced both north and south last night. Small firing operations by hand crews or aircraft may be employed today along Pioneer Pass Road, both north and south of the campground to keep fire edges even, and facilitate control of fire spread. The contingency group will continue constructing a fire line near El Capitan, using roads, hose lays, and chainsaw crews. Patrol and mop up will continue around the fire wherever necessary to protect values at risk. We are reminding the motoring public to be alert for the increased presence of firefighters and large firefighting vehicles in the U. S. Route 60 corridor.  The Telegraph Fire is asking the public to refrain from delivering food and other donations to fire camp.  We cannot legally accept donations.  If you wish to help, we recommend contacting local agencies who can utilize your donations.   Evacuation status for Superior, Globe, Pinto/Carlotta and the Battle Axe area is now “Ready.” Evacuation status for Top-Of-The-World, Bellevue, Oak Flat, Miami, Central Heights, Six Ice and Claypool is now “Set.”   The Tonto National Forest has initiated Stage 2 Fire Restrictions for the entire forest, effective 8 a.m. on June 11. All State Land is under Stage 2 restrictions effective 8:00 AM on June 11.   Hoy los bomberos han continuado vigilando y limpiando el perímetro del incendio a lo largo de U.S. Route 60 y cerca de la comunidad de Top-Of-The-World.  Les recordamos a los automovilistas que circulan por la zona que estén atentos a la presencia de los bomberos y de los grandes vehículos de bomberos en el corredor de la Ruta 60 de los Estados Unidos.  El fuego en la zona de Pinal/Signal Peak está avanzando tanto hacia el norte como hacia el sur.   Today firefighters continued to monitor and mop up the fire perimeter along U.S. Route 60 and near the Top-Of-The-World community.  We are reminding motorists traveling in the area to be alert for the presence of firefighters and large firefighting vehicles in the U.S. Route 60 corridor.  Fire in the Pinal/Signal Peak area is advancing both north and south. Fire activity is increasing due to hotter and drier conditions. Small firing operations may be initiated around nightfall to keep fire edges even, facilitating a controlled spread of the fire.  Mastication is complete along Pioneer Pass Road. Firefighters continue to prepare an alternative fire line along Doak Road, south of Signal Peak and are constructing a contingency fire line near El Capitan, using roads, hose lays, and chainsaw crews.  A Firewatch Cobra helicopter is being used for infrared detection of threats to containment lines. Team 2 asks the public to refrain from delivering food and other donations to the fire camp.   The fire perimeter along U. S. Route 60 and near the Top-Of-The-World community was heavily staffed overnight with firefighters who continued to monitor and mop up.  This activity will continue for several days until smoldering fuel and unhealthy smoke no longer pose a risk to local residents.  Night shift crews patrolled and monitored fire activity in the Pinal and Signal Peak areas, and will continue to do so today. As the fire moves east toward Pioneer Pass, masticators are working along Pioneer Pass Road in anticipation of potential burn outs to stop the fire’s advance. (Masticators are large machines which grind up brush and woody material, clearing fuel from fire lines.) Firefighters are preparing a contingency line to the protect the values at risk near El Capitan.   Today the fire perimeter along U.S. Route 60 and near the Top-Of-The-World community was heavily staffed with firefighters who continued to monitor and mop up.  This area will be staffed overnight.  Structure protection crews in the Pinal and Signal Peaks areas established hose lays for point protection of values at risk.  Night shift crews will continue to monitor fire activity. Today crews monitored the fire which is moving east, downhill through treacherous terrain from Signal Peak toward Pioneer Pass. Monitoring will continue overnight.  Firefighters also continued preparation of primary and a secondary contingency fire lines along Pioneer Pass Road and on the network of old roads and trails from Tuxedo Junction to SR 77, respectively.    U.S. Route 60 has reopened. The community of Lower Central Heights just went back to SET status. Residents should continue to be prepared in case of a change in conditions. There is still a great deal of fire traffic on the roads around the communities along the U.S. Highway 60 Corridor. Please be courteous and keep your attention focused on the road.
