Community Meeting tonight! Fire managers from Northern Rockies Incident Management Team 3 will hold their final community meeting tonight at the Bridger Civic Center, 210 S. Main Street. It will be held at 7:00 p.m. and the public is invited to attend in person. For those that can’t attend, the meeting will be recorded and posted to the Custer Gallatin National Forest Facebook page.
The majority of the fire area is in patrol status. Yesterday, firefighters monitored and improved completed line. The fire received moisture from some slow-moving thunderstorms. Initial attack forces were staged on the eastern side of the fire. A new lightning caused fire start was discovered approximately 12 miles east of the Robertson Draw fire and the initial attack personnel assisted local firefighters to contain the fire to less than 5 acres. The structure group was moved to the Red Lodge Airport in the afternoon to be on standby in case of new fire starts from lightning or errant fireworks.
Today, fire crews will monitor and mop up any pockets of heat around the fire edge to further improve completed line. There is a 50 to 60% chance of wetting rain (over .10”). Firefighters will take advantage of the cool, moist air which will aid them in further securing the fire perimeter. Fire personnel with engines will be available for initial attack response.
Closures: The Custer Gallatin National Forest lands south of Point of Rocks and east of Highway 212 and east of Wyoming Creek are closed with the following exceptions: Sheridan and Rattin Campgrounds, the Westminster Church Camp and the summer residences at Corral Creek and Spring Creek. A Closure Order is in effect on all Bureau of Land Management lands lying West of State Highway 72, South of State Highway 308, and East of US Highway 212 in Carbon County. The North and South Grove Creek Road, Gold Creek Road, Ruby Creek Road, Meeteetse Trail, and Robertson Draw Road to the state line is closed to public use.
Weather and Fuel Conditions: Cool, moist air over the fire area is expected. Isolated thunderstorms and wetting rain is possible. These storms are expected to be slow moving with gusty, variable winds. New fire starts from lightning activity and intensified by high outflow winds up to 50 mph are the greatest concern.
Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR): A TFR is in place for air space over the Robertson Draw Fire (FDC 1/0096) to provide a safe environment for firefighting aircraft operating in the area. Remember that temporary flight restrictions also apply to unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) or drones. If you fly, we can’t!

Happy 4th of July! Remember, fireworks are not permitted on any public lands! Hot and dry weather make for favorable fire conditions, so please be extra careful as you recreate today.
Yesterday afternoon, the fire area received 0.60” of rain in 1 hour. Lightning and high winds accompanied this cell and a new lightning caused fire started south of the fire area near Robertson Draw Road. Initial attack firefighters and engines responded with local resources and the fire was contained at less than 1 acre. Suppression repair of the dozer line has been completed. The majority of fire area was in patrol status. For the second day, very little smoke was generated from the northwest corner of the fire and air resources were not needed.
Today, fire crews will continue their work patrolling, monitoring and mopping up to further secure the fire perimeter. With the threat of thunderstorms again today, firefighters will remain vigilant and ready to respond to any new fire starts, as needed.

Yesterday, suppression repair work around the fire area was nearly completed. The primary task on the perimeter of the fire area was patrolling, monitoring and mop up. On the northwest side of the fire, pockets of unburned fuel produced little smoke and while helicopters were available to support the ground crews, they were not needed. The structure protection group and the initial attack crews remained alert and ready to respond to any new fire starts.
The weather continues to be unseasonably hot with no relief in sight. The fine fuels are drying out quickly. Today, hot spots could flare up with short runs and single tree torching, and most activity will be interior of the containment lines. Smoke may still be visible in areas that have not shown smoke recently. On the northwest side of the fire, crews will be monitoring the area as the fires smolders in brushy, unburned pockets of fuels. The structure protection group and the initial attack group are available should conditions change due to the threat of increased winds and lightning activity again today.
Evacuation Warnings: The Carbon County Sheriff’s Office has removed evacuation warnings associated with the Robertson Draw Fire.

Wildfire Fact Sheet for the Robertson Draw Fire for Wednesday, June 30, 2021
Incident Command: Type 2 Northern Rockies Incident Management Team 3 – Mike Almas, Incident Commander
Size: 29,838 acres Containment: 65% Personnel: 280
Mike Almas’ Type 2 Incident Management Team assumed command of the incident this morning at 6:00 a.m.
Yesterday, incoming fire managers assessed the current and projected needs for the fire area. The perimeter along the western edge is not contained. Fire crews spent the day patrolling for hot spots along the hand lines. On the northern fire edge, crews patrolled and used cold-trailing techniques to search for hot spots in the duff layer. A spot fire was located on the line and was extinguished. Heat still remains along the western and northern portions of the fire. The eastern and southern perimeters continue to be patrolled for any hot spots or pockets of heat along the containment lines. Mop up operations will further secure these lines. Any smoke in this area was well interior and posed no threat to the containment lines.
Today, fire managers will consolidate several divisions into one to streamline operations. Firefighters will continue to patrol and mop-up throughout the fire area and further secure the perimeter containment lines. Suppression repair efforts are ongoing.
Evacuation Warnings: Evacuation Warnings remain in effect for the areas located south of Red Lodge and east of US Highway 212. The North and South Grove Creek Road, Gold Creek Road, Ruby Creek Road, Meeteetse Trail, and Robertson Draw Road are closed to public use. It is recommended that all area residents have a household evacuation plan. Please remain vigilant and be aware of the fire situation and your surroundings.
Closures: The Custer Gallatin National Forest System lands south of Point of Rocks in the Rock Creek drainage are closed under a Forest Closure Order. The latest Closure Order effective June 30, 2021, opens areas east of Wyoming Creek and makes the Westminster Spires Organization Camp, the Rattin Campground and the Sheridan Campground accessible. The Corral Creek and Mt. Maurice trails remain closed. The Corral Creek and Spring Creek summer home tracts are outside of the closure area and are accessible. Parkside trail is west of Highway 212 and is open. A Closure Order is also in effect on all Bureau of Land Management lands lying West of State Highway 72, South of State Highway 308, and East of US Highway 212 in Carbon County. Robertson Draw Road remains closed at the state line.
Weather and Fuel Conditions: High pressure with hot, dry weather ahead. Temperatures will be in the upper 90s in the valley and significantly above average at all elevations by Friday. As these hot and dry conditions continue to build, live fuels are beginning to contribute to fire spread.

Some suppression repair work on interior fire lines continued to be completed. Perimeter fire lines remain in place while some erosion control work was completed to prevent potential soil runoff. On the northwest side firefighters continued to search for hot spots along hand lines. Crews completed some vegetation thinning work outlined by the Forest along forest roads near Highway 212. Suppression repair of interior dozer lines will continue on the eastern side. On the northwest side firefighters will continue to patrol and grid the fire’s edge searching for any pockets of heat. A woodchipper will be brought in to clean up the vegetation thinned out along forest roads. If the weather clears, a crew will return to the plateau and south of Mt.
