Smoke Outlook Northern-Central New Mexico Black Feather Fire Fire The Black Feather Fire has burned an estimated 2,158 acres and containment remains at 0%. Classic monsoon pattern more typical of the first half of August will bring increasingly moist, favorable weather conditions and much needed rainfall through early next week. As a result, significant active expansion of the fire perimeter is not anticipated in the near-term.   Smoke

Smoke Outlook Northern-Central New Mexico  Fire
SANTA FE, NM, Aug. 8, 2023 – Firefighters are preparing Forest Road 103 as a possible containment line by clearing brush and removing limbs. Fire managers will survey the wilderness area for natural containment features to link to roads and fire lines. Firefighters are also implementing structure protection to protect private property and other infrastructure.
Northern New Mexico Type 3 Incident Management Team takes over the Black Feather Fire
