Burnout Operations Planned for Jungle Creek Fire

Update 08/26/2020: Burnout operations on the Jungle Creek Fire continue through today as planned. Residents and travelers are advised to expect to see increased smoke visibility near the communities of Cle Elum, Ellensburg, Naches, and Yakima.
On August 17th, 2020 in the Jungle Creek area, a wildfire started within the Little Naches River drainage. Ground and aerial resources have been working to actively suppress the fire by constructing fire lines and utilizing helicopter bucket drops to cool hot spots. Cooler weather over the past several days has allowed crews to make substantial progress and has moderated fire activity.
CLOSURES:
To ensure visitor and crew safety, the FS Road #1900 area above the junction with State Route 410 and Little Naches FS Road #1900 are closed. Additionally, due to the fire’s proximity to dispersed camping areas and developed campgrounds, including Kaner Flat and Crow Creek campgrounds, will remain closed for public safety. A fire is burning in the Jungle Creek area of the Naches Ranger District in the Little Naches River drainage. Roads and trails in the area are closed. Forest Road #19 and campgrounds along it are Closed.

Location: approximately 9 miles southeast of Masterson, Texas
The Big Canyon Fire is 100% contained and has been turned back over to the local fire departments to monitor.

Location: approximately 9 miles southeast of Masterson, Texas
Crews will mop up hot spots and monitor the fire today.
Fire Weather: Neither elevated nor critical fire weather conditions are anticipated at the burn site through Sunday as twenty foot winds are forecast to remain below 15 mph both today and Sunday. No precipitation is expected through Sunday.
