TODAY
Hard work by the firefighters over the incident has increased containment up to 38%. The focus today will be on the northeastern corner of the fire along Highway 2 and the valley floor. If crews determine that direct line is not feasible, they will be preparing for additional strategic firing along Highway 2 to stop fire movement northeast towards Wrightwood. On the northwestern corner of the fire crews will be constructing direct line south from Littlerock and north from Highway 2. North of Mt. Wilson firefighters will be working to strengthen the lines where strategic firing was completed last night. The foothills communities can expect to see smoke in this area today as the interior burns out and aerial ignition may be used to help this process along. The lower eastern through the southern perimeter remains in patrol status.
YESTERDAY
Fire activity was reduced yesterday compared to the previous days and some critical work was accomplished. Strategic firing from Mt Wilson down to the Redbox Road and then east along Highway 2 back into the fire perimeter was completed last night. A significant portion of the fireline in the Antelope Valley was classified as contained as a result of the work that has been done in this area and crews continued to secure areas around structures. Indirect fireline has been completed for the northwestern edge of the fire.
WEATHER
Today will be slightly warmer with humidity dropping into the teens. Winds will be lighter and out of the southwest to west today and shifting to the northwest tonight. On Saturday, a significant warming and drying trend will begin, with the possibility of gusty northeast winds.

TONIGHT
Strategic Firing operations will continue into the evening from Mt Wilson down to the Redbox Road as favorable weather conditions allow. Structure engines will be in the desert foothills to continue monitoring and to respond to smoke checks in the communities. Much of the lower eastern through the southern perimeter remains in patrol status. Crews, engines and equipment continue to strengthen containment lines and mop up hot areas near the perimeter. In the northeast crews will be focused on keeping the fire in the existing footprint. A virtual community meeting was held yesterday the corrected closed-captioned version will replace the live version as it is finished. All of the fire updates and community meeting videos are available on the Bobcat fire youtube channel at: bit.ly/3iQy9zp.
TODAY
Today lower temperatures, higher humidies coupled with reduced winds reduced fire activity throughout the fire area. Conditions were not favorable for strategic firing for most of the day, but it did begin late in the shift north of Mt. Wilson. Crews and dozers were successful in building multiple sections of direct and indirect lines. On the northwest side of the fire indirect dozer line was completed into Antelope Valley and crews started scouting for opportunities for direct line. Crews continued to look for opportunities to construct fireline north from Highway 2 to the valley floor.
WEATHER
The weather tonight and on Wednesday will be warmer and drier than during the last couple of shifts. Thursday and Friday will be similar. On Saturday, a significant warming and drying trend will begin, with the possibility of gusty northeast winds.

TODAY
With the forecasted weather conditions, we expect similar fire activity to yesterday. The defensive strategic firing operation to secure line between Mt. Wilson and Highway 2 will continue and should be completed today. North of Highway 2 on the west side of the fire crews will look for opportunities to construct both indirect and direct line to check the westward spread of the fire and carry out structure defense as needed. In the Antelope Valley, crews will continue to construct direct line on the fire’s edge and mop up. On the northeastern corner of the fire, crews will be looking for opportunities to construct line to stop any further spread to the east. The south side and Highway 39 corridor continues to be in mop up and patrol status. A virtual community meeting was held yesterday and can be seen at: bit.ly/3iQy9zp, as the closed captioning is completed it will be uploaded.
