2023 Happy Camp Complex Klamath NF
Publication Type: News 09/29/2023

 Friday, September 29, 2023

Weather:  Today will be mostly cloudy with rain expected throughout the day. Cool conditions will continue throughout the weekend with gusty northeast winds near 30mph over the higher elevations. Areas near the Happy Camp Complex can expect 6-9mph southwest wind with gusts up to 12mph. High temperatures are expected to be between 63-67 degrees.

FIRE BEHAVIOR:  Wet fuels have eliminated the threat of major fire spread. Gusty north-northeast winds continue to pose a snag hazard over the higher elevations.

UFISH FIRE: 7,850 acres at 96% containment.

ELLIOT FIRE: 13,875 acres at 74% containment.

Crews will continue to monitor and patrol containment lines and will seek opportunities to address any heat near the fire perimeter, especially in the Swillup Creek drainage. Suppression repair will continue where it is safe and dry enough to do so. Resources will be removing equipment from the burn areas. The risks to community, cultural, natural and business assets have been greatly reduced.

EVACUATIONS: All Evacuation Warnings around the Ufish and Elliot Fires have been dropped.  View current Siskiyou County evacuation area status by visiting https://community.zonehaven.com
