Forest Emergency Fire Closure Reduced September 2, 2023

On September 2, 2023, the Klamath National Forest issued a new closure order for portions of the forest. The new order replaces the previously issued 05-05-23-07 order, shrinking the footprint of that order. The purpose of the closure is to provide for public safety in response to ongoing and increased wildfire activity across the forest, including the Happy Camp Complex.

Yreka, Calif., August 20, 2023 – The Klamath National Forest is issuing an emergency closure order for two portions of the forest. The purpose of the closure is to provide for public safety in response to ongoing and increased wildfire activity across the forest, including the Happy Camp Complex.

Closures:
Pacific Crest Trail is closed from Etna Summit to the Oregon Border. Hikers and all backpackers are asked to stay off the trail in that area.
