Crews are now re-engaged after the heavy rains, and the drying trend throughout the week will help suppression repair efforts. A UAS (unmanned aerial system) module is being utilized to perform reconnaissance to better assist firefighters locate hotspots along the fire perimeter.  Dinner: Crews continue to backhaul slash off of the fireline. Suppression repair is estimated to be complete in 2 operational shifts.  Containment– 95%

Significant changes will be reported by the Umpqua National Forest. Northwest Incident Management Team 13 will transfer command of the fires to a local Type 3 organization on Sunday October 8th at 1800.  Dinner: Suppression repair is complete, and the fire is in patrol status. Northwest Team 6 will be transferring command to Northwest Team 13 today at 6 pm. This will allow continued strategic management of all the Umpqua Fires as personnel time out. Updates for the Chilcoot Fire are posted on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays unless a significant event or situation change warrant more frequent updates.
