Umpqua Fires October 2, 2023

Crews are now re-engaged after the heavy rains, and the drying trend throughout the week will help suppression repair efforts. A UAS (unmanned aerial system) module is being utilized to perform reconnaissance to better assist firefighters locate hotspots along the fire perimeter. Dinner: Crews continue to backhaul slash off of the fireline. Suppression repair is estimated to be complete in 2 operational shifts. Containment– 95%

This will be the final update. Significant changes will be reported by the Umpqua National Forest. Northwest Incident Management Team 13 will transfer command of the fires to a local Type 3 organization on Sunday October 8th at 1800. Dinner: Suppression repair is complete, and the fire is in patrol status. Containment– 95%

Northwest Team 6 is managing multiple fires in the area. In addition to the fire listed in this update NW Team 6 is managing the Ridge, Brice Creek, Dinner, and Grizzly Fires on the Umpqua National Forest.

Northwest Team 6 is managing five fires in the area. In addition to the two fires listed in this update NW Team 6 is managing the Brice, Dinner, and Grizzly Fires further north on the Umpqua National Forest. A reconnaissance flight was done over all the fires yesterday to gain intel on where fire activity may have increased. There were some more active spots found, but overall fires have not grown significantly.
