What is a Safety Officer?
Updated On: 07/11/2023
Firefighters are outfitted with safety equipment, medical staff are staged and available, and operations are thought out with firefighter safety in mind. What is Suppression Repair?
Updated On: 07/11/2023
At this stage in the fire, we are transitioning portions of the fire from active suppression and mop-up, to repair in the areas where there have been disturbances of the ground created by either heavy use by vehicles, hand tools or heavy equipment. Firing operation on north side of Spring Creek Fire going well.
Updated On: 07/10/2023
The three photos attached at the bottom of this article paint a picture of the firing operations conducted Friday, July 7 on the north side of the fire in Division M.
One photo shows the Devil’s Canyon Veteran Crew burning from the ridge line. Since fire moves more slowly downhill than up, this allows for a more controlled rate of spread and less intense fire.

What do the wildfire terms "plumbed" and "hose lay" mean?
Updated On: 07/10/2023
In the past several days, you may have heard incident management team members refer to a fire line being “plumbed” or a “hose lay” being installed. We’ve mentioned this in our operational videos we've posted online and on Facebook. Both refer to hoses that are unrolled and placed along a fire line so water can be used to assist with suppression and containment efforts.
