Effective immediately for the Dolan Fire an evacuation ORDER is in place for the ZONE 24. The evacuation ORDER area for ZONE 24 is as follows: Areas west of Reliz Canyon Road to the intersection of Arroyo Seco Road. South of Arroyo Seco Road to the intersection of Santa Lucia Trail. East of Santa Lucia Trail to the intersection of Bear Mtn. Trail (21S02). North of Bear Mtn Trail (21S02) to the intersection of Reliz Canyon Road. As a reminder an "Evacuation WARNING" (i.e. sometimes used interchangeably with the term "Advisory") means those in a specific area/zone should be prepared to evacuate at any time. You do not need to leave your home at this time but please be alert and prepared to leave if an evacuation order is called. An "Evacuation ORDER" means those in a specific area/zone should leave immediately. If you feel that your life is in danger, do not wait for an emergency notification. Additionally: When an Evacuation Order is in place for a zone(s), this means the public, including residents, are not allowed to enter the zone(s). The closures will have Law Enforcement roadblocks turning cars around that are not authorized to be in the closure. This also includes no "In and out" privileges for subjects who decided to stay at their properties despite the Evacuation Order. If you leave the closed area, you will not be allowed to re-enter.

Monterey County Sheriff's Office has issued the following Evacuation WARNING:  Effectively immediately an Evacuation WARNING is now in place for Zone 29.  The evacuation Warning area for Zone 29 is as follows:  North Boundary: San Lucas Road South to Argyle Road.  West Boundary: Jolon Road East to Highway 101

Monterey County Sheriff's Office has issued the following Evacuation WARNING:  Effectively immediately an Evacuation WARNING is now in place for Zone 28.  The evacuation WARNING area for Zone 28 is as follows:  West Boundary: Reliz Canyon east to Jolon Road.  North Boundary: bottom of Zone 25 south to Milpitas Road.

As a reminder an "Evacuation WARNING" (i.e. sometimes used interchangeably with the term "Advisory") means those in a specific area/zone should be prepared to evacuate at any time. You do not need to leave your home at this time but please be alert and prepared to leave if an evacuation order is called.

ACTUALIZACION DE LOS EVENTOS DE AYER: Un despliegue de refugio de protección de fuego afectando 14 bomberos ocurrió en las cercanías de la Estación de Guardia de Nacimiento, hiriendo a tres, uno de gravedad. Los bomberos heridos fueron transportados en helicóptero al hospital de Fresno para recibir tratamiento. Se informa que los tres bomberos se encuentran en condición estable. El Inciendo forestal estaba muy activo desde la tarde hasta toda la noche en los bordes este y sur.

 

ACTIVIDADES DE HOY: Los vientos se desplazarán del norte al sur / suroeste a medida que una capa marina se extiende sobre el área del incendio, causando temperaturas más frías y niveles de humedad relativa más altos a evaluaciones más bajas. Por encima del terreno escarpado de la capa marina, los combustibles secos y los vientos fuertes pueden afectar el comportamiento del fuego quemando áreas de combustibles, y se esperan recorridos cortos en las cuestas. Los equipos a lo largo del perímetro este explorarán Kern Ridge para establecer una línea y proteger las estructuras. Los bomberos buscarán e identificarán posibles oportunidades para líneas de contención utilizando la cicatriz de quemaduras del Inciendo de Indian que ocurrió en el 2008. Si el clima lo permite, se realizarán operaciones de quema en el perímetro sur y este del incendio. Las cuadrillas continuarán manteniendo y mejorando las líneas existentes en el perímetro norte. La protección de la estructura continúa en todas las comunidades afectadas. El fuego continuará ardiendo activamente hacia el sur y se pueden esperar tasas rápidas de propagación, especialmente en áreas donde los drenajes están alineados con los vientos por encima de la capa marina.

 

EVACUACIONES: El Sheriff del Condado de Monterey tiene órdenes de evacuación obligatorias para la Zona B de Lucia y la Zona J de Prewitt Ridge; Casas de verano de Memorial Park FS; Zona K South Coastal Ridge Road; Zona L Gorda. YESTERDAY’S ACTIVITIES: A fire shelter deployment of 14 firefighters occurred in the vicinity of the Nacimienento Guard Station injuring three, one critically. The injured firefighters were transported by helicopter to the hospital in Fresno for treatment. All three firefighters are reported to be in stable condition. The fire burned very actively from the afternoon through the entire evening on the eastern and southern edges.  

TODAY’S ACTIVITIES: Winds will shift from the north to the south/southwest as a marine layer spreads over the fire area brining cooler temperatures and higher relative humidity levels to lower evaluations. Above the marine layer steep terrain, dry fuels and strong winds may impact fire behavior burning pockets of fuels, and short uphill runs are expected. Crews along the eastern perimeter will scout out along Kern Ridge to establish line and protect structures. Firefighters will scout out and identify possible opportunities for containment lines utilizing the 2008 Indian Fire burn scar. If weather permits burn operations will happen on the southern and eastern perimeter of the fire. Crews will continue to hold and improve existing lines in the northern perimeter. Structure protection continues in all affected communities. The fire will continue to burn actively to the south and rapid rates of spread can be expected especially in areas where drainages are aligned with the winds above the marine layer.  

 

EVACUATIONS: The Monterey County Sheriff’s has Mandatory evacuation orders for Lucia Zone B and Prewitt Ridge Zone J; Memorial Park FS Summer homes; Zone K South Coastal Ridge Road; Zone L Gorda. Evacuation warning in Zone 27. Advisory evacuation status are in effect in zone 24 east of Arroyo Seco Road; Zone M Salmon Creek Falls. ROAD CLOSURE:  HWY 1 is closed from north of Vista Point south to Pacific Valley.  Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd Is closed to all traffic from Highway 1 to the Fort Hunter Liggett base boundary line. FOREST CLOSURE:  Forest Order Number 05-07-51-20-20 remains in effect on the Forest in the vicinity of the fire.

 

WEATHER: Winds will shift from the north to the south southwest with possible gusts up to 30mph impacting fire behavior through approximately 1pm. A cooler marine layer will affect the fire below 1,000ft in elevation. Areas above the layer will see higher temperatures and Increasing winds. Fire behavior is expected to moderate this afternoon as winds die down.

 

SAFETY: Drones should not be flown when an active fire is present. Drones can impede aircraft operations. When you fly, we can’t!  Firefighters are still actively using HWY 1 as a major access point to the fire. Falling rocks and debris continues to be a hazard. Most notably in the area of MP 35 on HWY 1.

Esta es una situación en evolución y queremos compartir lo más posible en este momento. Mientras trabajamos para obtener respuestas a sus preguntas lo más rápido posible, esto es lo que podemos confirmar en este momento: Un despliegue de refugio de protección de fuego que involucró a quince bomberos del Incendio de Dolan ocurrió aproximadamente a las 0831 del martes 8 de septiembre de 2020, en las cercanías de la estación Nacimiento. Estos bomberos recibieron lesiones que incluyeron quemaduras e inhalación de humo mientras defendían la estación Nacimiento en Incendio de Dolan en el Bosque Nacional Los Padres en California. La Estación Nacimiento fue destruida. Puedo confirmar que una lesión es crítica y otra grave. La atención médica está en la escena y ambos pacientes han sido aéreo transportados “Life Flight” al Community Regional Hospital en Fresno para su evaluación y atención médica. Hay una advertencia de evacuación para la zona 24 de OES Monterrey. Nuestros pensamientos y oraciones están con los bomberos heridos, sus familiares, amigos y compañeros de trabajo. This is an evolving situation, and we want to share as much information as possible right now. While we work to get your questions answered as quickly as possible, here is what we can confirm right now:

A shelter deployment involving fourteen firefighters from the Dolan Fire occurred approximately at 0831 on Tuesday, Sept 8, 2020, in the vicinity of Nacimiento Station. These dedicated firefighters received injuries including burns and smoke inhalation while defending the Nacimiento Station on Dolan Fire on the Los Padres National Forest in California. Nacimiento Station was destroyed.

Three patients were transported to Community Regional Hospital in Fresno by Life Flight for assessment and care. A hospital spokesperson confirms that one injury is considered critical and two are categorized as fair.  

Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured firefighters, their family, friends and co-workers.

We have procedures in place for emergencies such as this and are being assisted by local officials as part of that plan. We will have additional information available as we are able to confirm it.
