During the day yesterday, the fire showed minimal activity, staying within control lines. Today firefighters will drop trees that pose a threat for fire spread and safety and continue mop up operations. Fire is expected to stay inside containment lines, with smoldering continuing within the perimeter.
Area Closures: East Fork Road (County Rd 421) remains closed at Highway 299. As of 6:00 pm tomorrow, Monday September 7, the southern portion of County Road 421 between Highway 299 and the junction with Forest Road 34N7Y will be opened and the evacuation warning for residents of Barney Gulch will be lifted. Visitors will then have access to Hobo Gulch Campground, the North Fork Trinity River Trailhead, and the Trinity Alps Wilderness along Forest Road 34N7Y. Above the junction, access will be limited to residents or persons with official business beyond that point.

Current Fire Situation: The Hobo Fire is burning on steep rugged terrain in Barney Gulch, about 7 miles northwest of Junction City. The fire size is approximately 412 acres and it is now 35% contained. The reduction in acreage is due to better mapping.
Today crews continue to strengthen existing control lines, mitigate hazard trees and find and extinguish hot spots. All fire activity continues to be within the direct and indirect control lines.
Area Closures: East Fork Road (County Rd 421) is closed at Highway 299, preventing access to the Hobo Gulch Campground and North Fork Trinity River Trailhead.

Current Fire Situation: The Hobo Fire is burning on steep rugged terrain in Barney Gulch, about 7 miles northwest of Junction City. The fire is approximately 450 acres and is now 25% contained. Fire movement has been to the north and flanking County Road 421. Similarly the fire is active and moving north along the high ridgeline above Barney Gulch. Crews are working to construct fireline and hose lays, and are being supported by water drops from helicopters. All fire activity is within the planned direct and indirect hand control lines.
Area Closures: East Fork Road (County Rd 421) is closed at the North Fork Trinity River Bridge, preventing access to the Hobo Gulch Campground and North Fork Trinity River Trailhead.

Overnight the fire had minimal activity, with smoldering in the interior. Today crews will continue to mitigate hazard trees, find and extinguish any hot spots, and continue mop up.
