Crews yesterday worked to prevent growth of any fires in the Eastland Complex. These fires showed no significant activity beyond some hay bales that will continue to smolder for several days. Resources from Eastland Complex assisted with the suppression of the Ramsey Fire, approximately 15 miles south of the Oak Mott fire in Brown County. Fire crews will continue to monitor these fires through this critical weather period and assist local responders as needed.   

Kidd Fire: 42,333 acres, 75% contained (Carbon, Kokomo, and Gorman). A total of 142 structures confirmed lost, with no differentiation between homes and outbuildings. 

Wheat Field Fire: 7,268 acres, 95% contained (NW of Rising Star). A total of 7 structures confirmed lost, with no differentiation between homes and outbuildings.

Oak Mott Fire: 4,031 acres, 95% contained (SE of Rising Star). 
 A total of 6 structures confirmed lost, with no differentiation between homes and outbuildings.

Walling Fire: 383 acres, 100% contained (W of Nimrod).

RED FLAG WARNING issued

The National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG WARNING FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM CDT
THIS EVENING, covering the area of the Eastland Complex.
 

Warm, dry and breezy conditions will create high fire danger the next few afternoons for areas generally along and west of the I-35 corridor.

Yesterday, crews took advantage of the low winds to work hotspots that were mapped by an evening infrared flight. No significant activity was observed on any of the fires yesterday, and this combined with the hard work of the fire crews has led to an increase in the containment of most fires. The area is still experiencing a drying trend and this weekend we will have some significant fire weather, with high temperatures, high winds, and low humidity. Eastland Complex resources are available to support local responders, and additional resources from the Texas A&M Forest Service are available. In addition, a variety of aerial resources are available for response.


Kidd Fire: 42,333 acres, 70% contained (Carbon, Kokomo, and Gorman). A total of 142 structures confirmed lost, with no differentiation between homes and outbuildings.

A total of 7 structures confirmed lost, with no differentiation between homes and outbuildings.

Eastland Complex Update March 25

Crews yesterday had a good day of putting out any hot spots around the containment lines and ensuring that nothing stood back up in the high winds. The low winds today will be beneficial, providing an opportunity to work some of those hot spot areas. There was an infrared flight yesterday afternoon that produced some imagery that crews will be utilizing today to find and extinguish any new hot areas picked up by the infrared camera.

Kidd Fire: 42,333 acres, 55% contained (Carbon, Kokomo, and Gorman). Ground resources continued to patrol containment lines. A total of 142 structures confirmed lost, with no differentiation between homes and outbuildings.  

Wheat Field Fire: 7,268 acres, 70% contained (NW of Rising Star). Crews continued to mop up and patrol the fire. A total of 7 structures confirmed lost, with no differentiation between homes and outbuildings. 

Oak Mott Fire: 4,031 acres, 90% contained (SE of Rising Star). Resources continued patrolling and mopped up any hot spots found along containment lines. A total of 6 structures confirmed lost, with no differentiation between homes and outbuildings. 

Walling Fire: 383 acres, 100% contained (W of Nimrod).  

Mangum Fire: 11 acres, 95% contained Crews patrolled lines today and mopped up any heat. 

Cedar Mountain: 229 acres, 75% contained (Between Cisco & Eastland).  Crews patrolled existing lines and mopped up hot spots. A total of 1 home confirmed lost.

Evacuations Lifted March 24th

At this time, all evacuation orders have been lifted and there are no road closures. Fire crews are still working in the area so residents should take care when driving through the burned area.

There are still distribution sites for donated goods at Eastland 1st Baptist Church, and Wilkes Community Center. 

Community Meeting March 24th 600pm

There will be a Public Community Meeting held at Maverick Stadium in Eastland, TX from 6-7pm tomorrow, March 24th. Members of the fire Incident Management Team and representatives from Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) will be there to give information on the fire and answer questions. The meeting will be filmed and posted on the Texas A&M Forest Service and the Lone Star State Incident Management Facebook pages. 
 
There will be a Community Meeting on March 24th from 6-7pm. The meeting will be located at Maverick Stadium in Eastland, TX and posted on Facebook at a later time.

Acres: 54,463

Containment: 70%

Cause:  Under Investigation

Total acres for the complex are up to 54,463 containment is at 70%. Yesterday crews continued to mop up hot spots along the containment lines. Today we expect to see more smoke as we have higher winds, lower humidity, and higher temperatures today. The area will be under a drying trend into Sunday when we will have some critical fire weather. Total structure loss is 158 for the complex, and total livestock lost is 400 for the complex.  

 Kidd Fire: 42,333 acres (mapped), 45% contained, (Carbon and Gorman). Fire was active on March 12th, but due to precipitation on the morning of 21st, fire activity has decreased significantly. 142 structures have been reported lost as of March 21st at 15:00.

Wheat Field Fire: 7,268 acres (mapped), 60% contained, (NW of Rising Star). Fire activity was moderate on March 20th, precipitation received on the 21st has further reduced fire activity. 7 structures reported lost as of March 21st at 15:00.

Oak Mott Fire: 4,031 acres (mapped), 80% contained, (SE of Rising Star). Several stumps and large trees are still smoking interior and crews will be working on them today. 6 structures were lost as of March 21st at 15:00.

Walling Fire: 383 acres (mapped), 100% contained, (W of Nimrod).

Cedar Mountain Fire: 179 acres, 40% contained, (Cisco and Eastland). Dozers finished lining cedar mountain yesterday so resources can drive all the way around the fire now.. 1 Home reported lost as of 15:00 on March 21st.

Blowing Basin Fire: 241 acres, 60% contained, (Cross Plains). Fire had moderate activity yesterday, and today crews continue to patrol lines around the fire. 2 Homes lost as of March 21st at 15:00.

Mangum Fire: 11 acres, 95% contained, (Next to Kidd Fire). Fire is located South East of the Kidd Fire, but was a separate start. The fire had moderate activity yesterday and crews are patrolling the area today.

Cause:  Under Investigation

Total acres for the complex are up to 54,463 containment is at 60%. One new fire started yesterday, the Powerline Fire, and is included in the Eastland Complex. Total structure loss is 158 for the complex.

 Kidd Fire: 42,333 acres (mapped), 45% contained, (Carbon and Gorman). Fire was active on March 12th, but due to precipitation on the morning of 21st, fire activity has decreased significantly. 142 structures have been reported lost as of March 21st at 15:00.

Wheat Field Fire: 7,268 acres (mapped), 60% contained, (NW of Rising Star). Fire activity was moderate on March 20th, precipitation received on the 21st has further reduced fire activity. 7 structures reported lost as of March 21st at 15:00.

Oak Mott Fire: 4,031 acres (mapped), 80% contained, (SE of Rising Star). Minimal fire behavior has been observed along with minimal moisture received yesterday. 6 structures were lost as of March 21st at 15:00.

Walling Fire: 383 acres (mapped), 100% contained, (W of Nimrod).

Cedar Mountain Fire: 179 acres, 40% contained, (Cisco and Eastland). Fire activity is diminished with the precipitation yesterday. 1 Home reported lost as of 15:00 on March 21st.

Blowing Basin Fire: 241 acres, 60% contained, (Cross Plains). Fire had moderate activity yesterday, and today crews continue to patrol lines around the fire. 2 Homes lost as of March 21st at 15:00.

Mangum Fire: 11 acres, 95% contained, (Next to Kidd Fire). Fire is located South East of the Kidd Fire, but was a separate start. The fire had moderate activity yesterday and crews are patrolling the area today.
 
Powerline Fire: 4 acres, There was a small new start yesterday was caused by a damaged power line in the wind. Nearby resources quickly suppressed the fire, and  the fire will be monitored today by crew.
