The Six Rivers Lightning Complex is currently 41, 502 acres with 81% containment and 998 personnel assigned to the incident.
(Ammon – 11,465 acres; Campbell – 30,037 acres)
CURRENT SITUATION
Hot temperatures are expected to persist for the next several days. Although there has been no perimeter growth across the Ammon and Campbell fires for several days, interior burning of litter and heavier ground fuels across the forest floor will continue to produce smoke. The current stable weather conditions will keep the smoke from moving out of the area, so similar conditions are expected with the smoke accumulating along the Trinity River in the morning and lifting in the late afternoon each day. Firefighters continue to patrol the perimeter of the fire, coordinating with the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to identify the remaining hot areas near the control lines. Wildland crews are also continue to remove hazard trees that could impact the road systems throughout the fire area.
Resource Advisors (READS) are working closely will local tribal and forest personnel to identify the many cultural resource areas in the fire areas in advance of suppression repair and rehabilitation to ensure these areas will not be disturbed while fire crews work in the areas of concerns. This coordination also allows for efficient use of shared resources.

The Six Rivers Lightning Complex is currently 41, 406 acres with 79% containment and 1,107 personnel assigned to the incident. (Ammon – 11,465 acres; Campbell – 29,941 acres)
CURRENT SITUATION
Firefighters continue to patrol the Ammon fire, which is 100% contained. Most of today’s efforts will be focused on repair work.
The hot, dry, and breezy conditions caused fire activity to increase within the perimeter of the Campbell fire control lines. The temperatures caused an increase mixing of air, improved visibility for air resources to access the fire area and support the ongoing ground crew operations. The helicopters supported the crews along the eastern perimeter of the Campbell fire near the Happy Camp Mountain area.
The unseasonably hot temperatures and dry conditions are forecast to remain over the fire area for the remainder of the week. There is a slight chance for isolated thunderstorms to develop this afternoon. Incident managers are keeping a robust ground and air force assigned to the incident as critical fire weather conditions persist through the week. Firefighters will continue their efforts to improve and secure control lines. More seasonal weather conditions are predicted to return to the area this coming weekend.

Six Rivers Lightning Complex UPDATE 9062022
Related Incident: Six Rivers Lightning Complex
Publication Type: News
The Six Rivers Lightning Complex remains in unified command with California Interagency Incident Management Team 15, California Highway Patrol, Trinity County Sheriff, and Humboldt County Sheriff. The Six Rivers Lightning Complex is currently 41, 406 acres with 79% containment and 1,229 personnel assigned to the incident. (Ammon – 11,465 acres; Campbell – 29,941 acres)
CURRENT SITUATION
After five weeks of hard work, our night shift Firefighters worked their last night shift yesterday evening.
Record-breaking heat is possible today, as high temperatures soar into the 100’s at the lower elevations. At the higher elevations of the fire, the temperatures are expected to be well into the 90’s. Accompanying the hot temperatures is a very dry airmass and breezy northwesterly winds. Firefighters have been focusing on bolstering control lines and “mopping-up” identified areas of heat along the eastern portion of the Campbell Fire’s perimeter. In preparation for this critical weather, heavy equipment has been improving the contingency lines along the Lone Pine Ridge as a back-up control line if it was needed. The 2015 River Complex is directly east of the current control lines. There are reduced fuel loads in this relatively recent burned area, which increases the probability of success for suppressing any spot fires which may occur. Firefighter’s will continue to patrol and monitor the Ammon fire, while wildfire crews continue repair on roads and suppression lines utilizing heavy equipment.
The higher wind speeds will increase mixing of air today, causing more smoke to be transported from the area. Additionally, the morning inversion will lift early today and improve overall air quality throughout mid-day.

The Six Rivers Lightning Complex is currently 41, 296 acres with 73% containment and 1, 234 personnel assigned to the incident. (Ammon – 11,465 acres; Campbell – 29,831 acres)
CURRENT SITUATION
On the Campbell fire, crews continue to focus on strengthening the control lines along the northern perimeter near Cedar Creek, the east perimeter along the Lone Pine Ridge, and along the southern perimeter above the communities of Trinity Village and Hawkins Bar. Firefighters on the Ammon fire will continue to patrol and monitor the area and wildfire crews have begun repairing roads and suppression lines utilizing heavy equipment.
There will be small delays on Denny Road as crews work on the road to remove hazard trees and build contingency lines between Hawkins Bar and Happy Camp Mountain Road.
An Unmanned Aviation System drone will be flown over the fire area to aid firefighters in identifying remaining sources of heat, which will allow ground and air resources to target those areas of concern more quickly.
A critical fire weather pattern is currently moving over much of California. Today’s weather will be transitioning into an unusually high temperature with low humidity and record high temperatures could be reached by tomorrow. These record temperatures and dry fuel conditions is a cause for concern on existing fires and increases the possibility for new ignitions.

The Six Rivers Lightning Complex remains in unified command with California Interagency Incident Management Team 15, California Highway Patrol, Trinity County Sheriff, and Humboldt County Sheriff. The Six Rivers Lightning Complex is currently 41,178 acres with 64% containment and 1,521 personnel assigned to the incident. (Ammon – 11,465 ac.; Campbell – 29,713 ac.)
All growth on the Campbell Fire is due to a large interior island that continues to burn on the eastside, all within the containment lines.
Yesterday a smoke column was visible from Willow Creek. The smoke was caused by a large island burning several miles within the interior of the Campbell fire along the Cedar Creek Road. There are several smaller unburned pockets of vegetation that will likely burn during the coming hot and dry period.
A coastal marine influence brought excellent overnight humidity recoveries providing improved conditions for firefighters yesterday. Although a weak Pacific air mass will remain in place, a warming trend will begin over the fire area today. High temperatures are expected to be in the mid-800s. Smoke generated by the interior burning pockets will limit afternoon warming over portions of the fire.
Firefighters continue to secure control lines ahead of the predicted weather pattern shift, which is forecasted to bring near record high temperatures to the area along with very dry conditions on Tuesday. The focus remains on the northern perimeter of the Campbell fire near Cedar Creek, on the eastern flank along the Lone Pine Ridge and Groves Prairie roads, and along the mid-slope road systems off the Denny Road above the community of Trinity Village and Hawkins Bar.
With fire containment lines holding steady, smoke production decreased yesterday, and air quality conditions improved. The same air quality conditions can be expected today.

Six Rivers Lightning Complex UPDATE 9032022
Related Incident: Six Rivers Lightning Complex
Publication Type: News
The Six Rivers Lightning Complex remains in unified command with California Interagency Incident Management Team 15, California Highway Patrol, Trinity County Sheriff, and Humboldt County Sheriff. The Six Rivers Lightning Complex is currently 40,995 acres with 64% containment and 1,521 personnel assigned to the incident.
Wildland firefighters will continue efforts to increase containment on the remaining two fires of the Six Rivers Lightning Complex. The Ammon fire has experience minimal growth over the past week, however, interior smoldering of ground fuels will persist with limited threats to control lines. The Campbell fire also remained within the control lines yesterday.
Today, firefighters will focus efforts on holding and improving the control lines near Cedar Creek on the north end of the fire and above the communities of Trinity Village and Hawkins Bar near the southeastern perimeter.
A National Infrared Operations fixed wing aircraft conducted an overnight flight to identify the remaining pockets of heat across the fire area. Today, ground resources will target those hotspots to limit the potential for future spread. Fire resources will continue tactical patrols due to the steep terrain and abundance of burning dead ground fuel, to lessen the threat of hot material rolling across the mid-slope roads causing spot fires outside of the control lines along all the perimeters.
Most of the current smoke production is being generated from several large, unburned pockets of vegetation well within the perimeter of the Campbell fire. The northeast winds in the early morning may bring smoke into communities West and South of the fire area. The overall decrease in fire behavior should improve air quality in the coming days.

Today, California Incident Management Team 15 assumed command of the SRF Lightning Complex. CAIIMT 15 will join the unified command with California Highway Patrol, Trinity County Sheriff, and Humboldt County Sheriff. The Six Rivers Lightning Complex is currently 39,721 acres with 64% containment and 1,573 personnel assigned to the incident.
The Campbell and Aamon fires are the last two uncontained fires after a lighting event occurred in the early morning hours of August 5th . Over the last month, crews have worked hard to implement a full suppression strategy through the mixture of direct line construction, and tactical operations where the steep rugged terrain made direct actions impossible.
Fire resources will continue the current strategy and focus on holding and securing the control lines on the north side of the Campbell fire on either side of Cedar Creek. If successful, controlling this flank will ensure the fire remains off Hoopa Reservation jurisdiction. The crews will also focus on securing the fire along the system of roads being used to contain the southeast portion of the Campbell fire above the community of Trinity Village, minimizing the potential impacts to the area's infrastructure. Minimal fire activity is expected on the Aamon fire.
Wildland firefighters continue to contain spot fires across the control lines during the persistent warm and dry conditions. This weather trend will continue into the weekend as a ridge of high pressure intensifies across the state.
The morning inversion will again move smoke into communities West of the Campbell Fire. This smoke is expected to lift late afternoon and overnight. For more information on air quality conditions please check out https://outlooks.airfire.org/outlook/65384a03 .

The Six Rivers Lightning Complex remains in unified command with California Interagency Incident Management Team 14, California Highway Patrol, Trinity County Sheriff, and Humboldt County Sheriff. The Six Rivers Lightning Complex is currently 39,274 acres with 64% containment and 1,815 personnel assigned to the incident.
With thick smoke laying over the fire, vertical lift was limited and fire activity remained below the anticipated levels on Wednesday. This smoke was a positive for operations on the fireline, but unhealthy for sensitive groups.
The fire fight did not stop because of poor visibility in the smoke. On the Ammon Fire, firefighters worked near Madden Creek to tie together control lines through heavy timber blowdown. In other areas of the fire they were assigned to strengthen containment and carry on with suppression repair projects.
In the north, east, and south sides of the Campbell Fire, the full suppression efforts of firefighters are making great progress. Wednesday, containment increased by ten percent, control lines were tied together, and defensive firing operations continued to take away the fire’s ability to make large destructive runs and greatly reduced the threat to the Hoopa Valley Reservation. In preparation of the fire’s potential, firefighters once again were assigned to the Trinity Village and Hawkins Bar areas to defend structures if necessary.
Overnight the level of fire activity was low on the Ammon Fire and moderate on the Campbell Fire. Aside from one spot fire across the line on the Campbell fire, which was quickly contained, operations consisted of holding control lines and creating greater depth on containment lines.
Thursday, the critical area is the southern portion of the Campbell Fire. Firefighters will once again stage in the areas of Trinity Village and Hawkins Bar as a structure protection task force, while control lines north of their location are tied together. Elsewhere on each fire, containment lines will be strengthened and fire suppression repair work will continue.

The Six Rivers Lightning Complex remains in unified command with California Interagency Incident Management Team 14, California Highway Patrol, Trinity County Sheriff, and Humboldt County Sheriff. The Six Rivers Lightning Complex is currently 36,944 acres with 54% containment and 1,890 personnel assigned to the incident.
The weather experienced Tuesday was just as forecasted and the dry, hot weather trend meant clear sunny skies over the Campbell and Ammon fires. This change from the humid and smoky air allowed aircraft to support ground operations, but it also increased fire activity.
The increased fire activity began Monday night with a spot fire near Zeigler Point, on the Campbell Fire. Throughout the night firefighters worked to contain the spot and by Tuesday morning these operations became the priority on the two fires. As firefighters fought to build containment line around the spot fire, a structure protection task force was deployed to the communities of Trinity Village and Hawkins Bar. The task force familiarized themselves with the area, tested water pumps, and cleared around properties to ensure the community was prepared should the fire front push their direction. Elsewhere on the Campbell Fire, firefighters made great progress by completing the Tish Tang Ridge contingency, while defensive firing operations continued around Lone Pine Ridge, Horse Linto Campground, and Groves Prairie Rd. Fire activity was less active on the Ammon Fire, where firefighters continued strengthening containment lines. While the fire activity was not as active as the Campbell Fire, the Ammon Fire is not fully contained and still poses a significant risk from spot fires and roll out. While the strategy of full suppression continues, work has also begun on Ammon Fire suppression repair work.
Overnight, unmanned aerial systems assisted the firefighters and heavy equipment operators on the ground with firing operations and aerial reconnaissance. When conditions were favorable, firing operations continued to establish additional control line.
Wednesday, high temperatures are forecasted and are expected to produce high to extreme fire behavior. The structure defense task force will remain in place and the priority will be to complete control lines above the communities of Trinity Village and Hawkins Bar ahead of the progressing fire spread.
