Forsythe II Update 04-19-2024

Forsythe II Prescribed Burn
Publication Type: Announcement - 04/19/2024 - 17:00

Fire managers anticipate additional opportunity for planned ignitions on the Forsythe II Prescribed Burn area as soon as Sunday, April 21. Ignitions will be contingent on appropriate weather conditions falling within the parameters of the burn plan. Fire managers will be monitoring for weather parameters such as wind speeds and fuel moistures for the area. Please note that local weather, especially at this time of year, can vary greatly in Colorado. Resources on scene for this prescribed fire are assigned to monitor these local conditions and also maintain contact with the National Weather Service.

The immediate area near Gross Reservoir by Forsythe Canyon and Winiger Ridge remains closed to recreation. Residents and visitors in the area should expect to see smoke and flames when operations are underway, particularly in the following areas: Lakeshore subdivision, Crescent Village, Crescent Meadows, Gross Reservoir, Walker Park Ranch, Miramonte, Wondervu, Eldorado Canyon State Park, and parts of east Boulder County. Prescribed fire smoke may affect your health. More information is available at https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cdphe/wood-smoke-and-health.

The public is advised to not call 911 regarding this prescribed fire activity. Email notifications are being sent out periodically during ignition periods.
