Fire crews successfully completed work on 125 acres yesterday, Saturday May 17, on the Forsythe II Prescribed Burn Project. No further ignitions are planned for this operational period.

Ignitions have completed for the day after successfully treating 125 acres at the Forsythe II prescribed burn project. Fire crews will continue to work in the area, patrolling the project and ensuring a secure perimeter. In the interest of public and firefighter safety, a forest closure remains in effect for the area.

Fire crews have successfully completed ignitions on the first unit area of 19 acres at the Forsythe II prescribed burn, and have begun working on their second unit area of 63 acres. In the interest of public and firefighter safety, the area remains closed to the public during operations.

The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest is closely monitoring local conditions to resume prescribed fire operations on the Forsythe II Prescribed Burn area, located 7 miles southwest of Boulder and 5 miles east of Nederland. Operations could begin as early as tomorrow, Friday, May 16, if conditions allow.

Fire crews will remain at the Forsythe II Prescribed Burn Project Site working on securing the edge around the Unit 44A burn by spraying water, stirring dirt and utilizing sprinklers, for the next several days. There are no further ignitions planned for Forsythe II this spring.

Ignitions are complete for today, Sunday, May 19, after successfully treating 70 acres at the Forsythe II Prescribed Fire Project. Firefighters remain in the area to secure and monitor the perimeter of this burn unit. We have posted a new video under the "videos" tab here in InciWeb with additional information from Forsythe II and how prescribed fire moves through a landscape.

Fire crews have completed a test fire and verified that conditions are good for prescribed fire ignitions today, Sunday, May 19, for the Forsythe II Prescribed burn area. Smoke may be notably visible in the Gross Reservoir area as well as along the Front Range.

Fire managers are monitoring conditions for potential ignition as soon as Sunday, May 19, on the Forsythe II Prescribed Burn Project. Ignitions continue to be contingent on having appropriate weather conditions fall within the parameters of the burn plan, such as suitable dispersal wind speeds and ignitable fuel moistures. Ignitions may also be possible on Monday, May 20.

Fire managers have determined that conditions will not be suitable for prescribed fire ignitions tomorrow, Wednesday, May 8, at the Forsythe II Prescribed Burn. Fire management professionals will continue to monitor for another possible ignition window after this incoming weather system, which unexpectedly dropped snow on the burn area this afternoon.
