Cody Fire containment increases significantly 

Crews continue response efforts amid increasingly hot and dry conditions

Highlights: Containment on the Cody Fire climbed significantly on Sunday, rising from 47% to 83%, a testament to the continued hard work and coordination of firefighting resources across the incident. 

As a reminder, fire restrictions remain in effect. Residents and visitors are urged to stay informed on current closures and official updates to ensure public and firefighter safety during the ongoing response efforts. 

Fire Activity: Yesterday, in addition to securing several sections of the perimeter on the Cody Fire, crews continued work along the Arizona Trail, interior zones of the fire area, and within communities. Today, crews will focus on monitoring and patrolling containment lines, addressing isolated hot spots, and conducting mop-up operations.  

Suppression repair assessments are ongoing, and utility providers have begun essential repair work to safely restore services for residents. 

Evacuations: Updated evacuation orders are in place to ensure public safety. Effective Sunday evening, the following evacuation orders are as follows:  
GO Zone: 18 in the Oracle area;  
SET Zone: 17 in the Oracle area;  
Evacuation zones 1-16, 19, 20 & 21 have also been downgraded. Residents are encouraged to return to normal daily activities with no further restrictions. 
 
Evacuation Centers: Canyon Del Oro High School, 25 W. Calle Concordia, Oro Valley, AZ  85704; Mammoth Community Center, 101 W. 5th St, Mammoth, AZ 85618. 

Weather: Temperatures in the mid-80s will be accompanied by extremely dry conditions, sustained winds from 10-15 mph, and gusts of 25mph. 

Safety: High traffic conditions continue throughout the holiday weekend. For public and firefighter safety, please avoid the area to allow fire traffic to work to contain the fire.  

Road Closures: The following roads are closed - Cody Loop/Sam Clemens and Cody Loop/Durant Rd. More information is available at https://az511.gov.   

Fire Restrictions and Closures: State 2 Fire Restrictions are issued for the Coronado National Forest, which includes recreational shooting (https://www.fs.usda.gov/r03/coronado/alerts). Stage 2 restrictions are also in effect on State Trust Lands in southern/southeastern Arizona (wildlandfire.az.gov). The fire area remains under Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs); if you fly a drone near the fire area, our aircraft will be grounded.
