There are several types of aircraft that can aid firefighting efforts. One of which is called a Water scooper, or "scooper" for short. Scoopers skim the surface of a body of water and scoop water into an onboard tank and then drop it on a wildfire. Some scoopers can hold up to 1,600 gallons of water, and it can take as little as 12 seconds to fill the tank to capacity. This scooper retrieved water from the Lookout Point Lake.
