Bedrock Fire update for Friday, August 4, 2023 Lowell, Ore. – Current and predicted weather conditions may allow for rapid growth on the Bedrock Fire. High temperatures heat the ground and vegetation, and low relative humidity dries out the fuels. This makes forest fuels burn more readily and quickly.
The Bedrock fire is estimated at 12,213 total acres and is 5% contained. No acreage update was available. An increase in clouds and relative humidity may lead to decrease in fire behavior.
Bedrock Fire update for Thursday, August 3, 2023 Lowell, Ore. – Yesterday, Bedrock Fire managers hosted 50 people at a public meeting at McKenzie High School to provide updates and answer questions. A general timeline of the fire was discussed, focusing on operational detail to address firefighting activity.
Bedrock Fire update for Wednesday, August 2, 2023 Lowell, Ore. – Bedrock Fire managers and cooperators sponsored public meetings in Lowell and Oakridge to present status updates and answer questions yesterday. About forty members of the local communities attended each meeting. A third public meeting will be held today at 6 p.m. at McKenzie High School. The meeting at Lowell was recorded and is available on the “Bedrock Fire 2023” Facebook page.
The Bedrock fire is estimated at 12,213 total acres and is 5% contained. Expect moderate to active fire behavior today with greatest fire activity in the afternoon and into the evening. The pattern of smoke movement is expected to be similar as previous days with smoke settling overnight then moving to the southeast during the afternoon and evening. Some brief light smoke may be seen west of the fire, into Eugene/Springfield during the morning.
The Bedrock fire is estimated at 11,182 total acres and 5% contained. Fire activity and smoke production will increase after noon as the inversion lifts, but overall rate of spread is anticipated to be below 1,000 acres per day. Most should expect similar smoke conditions as yesterday with persistent weather pattern. Oakridge will see periods of heavy smoke this morning lingering into the afternoon before clearing to GOOD for evening into overnight.

Fire activity and smoke production will increase after noon as the inversion lifts, but overall rate of spread is anticipated to be below 1,000 acres per day.
