Bedrock Fire: Heavy helicopters were active on the north end of the fire yesterday, flying water buckets to cool and slow fire growth. Firefighters on the northwestern portion of the fire are continuing to prepare control lines for burnout operations to secure these lines and are conducting these burnouts as weather conditions allow. Yesterday there was a visible smoke column from these burnout operations.
Community Meeting:  There will be a community meeting tonight at 6 PM at the Oakridge High School auditorium in Oakridge. Fire managers and agency representatives will be available for questions after the meeting. The virtual community meeting from last night can be viewed on the Bedrock Fire Facebook  page.

Tactical burning is planned to secure lines on the northern edge of the Bedrock Fire today. Smoke from this operation is expected to be visible.  Community Meeting:  There will be a virtual community meeting on Wednesday, August 9 at 6 PM on the Bedrock Fire Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BedrockFire2023/. Questions about the Salmon and Bedrock Fires can be submitted via Facebook prior to the meeting on the event page. 
Northwest Incident Management Team 12 took command of the Bedrock Fire at 7 PM on Sunday, August 6 Weather: Some cloud cover today is expected to limit warming and drying this afternoon. These clouds will increase later today and will help to moderate fire behavior. Winds are expected to be terrain driven, breezier through the drainages and along ridgetops. Temperatures over the fire area today are forecasted to be 78-82 degrees at lower elevations, and 69-74 degrees on ridges. 
Bedrock Fire update for Sunday, August 6, 2023 Lowell, Ore. – Northwest Incident Management Team 13 will transfer command of the Bedrock Fire to Northwest Incident Management Team 12 today at 7:00 p.m. Each Incident Management Team is prepared to provide a smooth transition to support the Willamette National Forest with the appropriate resources to meet the needs required to best serve the surrounding communities.
Bedrock Fire update for Saturday, August 5, 2023
Special Statement An Air Quality Advisory is in effect for parts of Deschutes, Lake, and Klamath counties until further notice. Fire: The Bedrock Fire is estimated at 12,978 total acres and is 5% contained. Fire and smoke behavior were decreased yesterday with higher humidity, cloud cover, and rain in the area. Similar conditions are possible today.
The Bedrock fire is estimated at 12,213 total acres and is 5% contained. No acreage update was available. An increase in clouds and relative humidity may lead to decrease in fire behavior.
