Ignitions for the prescribed burning operation begin today, September 20th, 2023, at 1:30pm on the East 4 block within the Southern HD Unit, USDA-San Juan National Forest. Today's operation is located west of Turkey Creek and east of Goose Creek on the southern end of the #SanJuanNF. Resources will complete the second burn unit in the Southern HD Unit for a goal of 500 acres, giving a total of 1000-acres burned in the Southern HD Unit of the Columbine Ranger District. 
Prescribed Burn Scheduled for October 17 NE of Dolores DOLORES, Colo., October 16th, 2023—The San Juan National Forest’s Dolores Ranger District is planning to conduct a prescribed burn this week on Forest land near Boggy Draw, about 5 miles northeast of Dolores.  The prescribed burn is expected to last 1-2 days, and, weather-permitting, will begin Tuesday, October 17th. 
The Southern HD Unit Prescribed Fire Project is currently underway on the East 4 Block within the USDA Forest Service - San Juan National Forest. As of 4:45pm today, September 21st, crews have completed 75% of the prescribed burn goal of 300-acres. If you are in the area, please exercise caution as firefighters and firefighting apparatuses are actively working and patrolling the fire line. Some smoke may be visible through the weekend.
**POSTPONED** Due to unfavorable weather and fuel conditions, the planned Pagosa Ranger District, Echo Canyon Unit, prescribed burn has been postponed until tomorrow September 25th.
Operations may begin late August, although weather and resource dependent Bayfield, CO. August 22, 2023— To reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire and improve forest health, the Columbine Ranger District is planning to burn approximately 3,000 acres in the Beaver Meadows and Southern HD mountains of the San Juan National Forest. The planned burn areas are approximately 10 miles northeast and 12 miles southeast of Bayfield.
Ignitions for the prescribed burning operation begin today on the Eastern 5 block within the Southern HD Unit of the #SanJuanNF.
Ignitions for todays, September 27, 2023, prescribed burning operation began on the Mill Creek Unit in the Pagosa Ranger District, #SanJuanNF. Today's operation is located off Mill Creek Road and FS-665 Road. Resources will look to complete a goal of 140-acres of prescribed fire. If you are in the area, please exercise caution when around firefighters and fire apparatuses as they will be actively patrolling and working throughout the day. Some smoke may be visible in the area.
The USDA Forest Service - San Juan National Forest, Columbine Ranger District, is conducting several prescribed burns in the Vallecito/Piedra Unit starting today, September 26th. Burning operations will take place over multiple days when weather and fuel conditions are favorable for ignition.
Prescribed burning operations on the USDA Forest Service - San Juan National Forest, Columbine Ranger District, Vallecito/Piedra Unit, have concluded ignitions for today, September 26th, at 6:00pm. Crews completed 100% of the prescribed 320-acre goal.Tomorrow, September 27th, crews will start Mop-Up procedures on the Vallecito/Piedra Block. Some smoke may be visible through the next few days.
