The USDA-San Juan National Forest has postponed the scheduled prescription burn set to start today, September 19, 2023, on the Mill Creek Unit in the Pagosa Ranger District.
Ignitions for the prescribed burning operation continue today, September 21, 2023, on the East 4 Block within the Southern HD Unit of the #SanJuanNF. Resources are looking to complete the remaining 300-acres from yesterday's burn goal of 500-acres.
Crews on the Dolores District have completed ignitions on the prescribed fire in the Boggy Draw area, 5 miles NE of Dolores. The boundaries of the burn area remain secure and controlled.
The USDA Forest Service - San Juan National Forest, Pagosa Ranger District, is planning to conduct several prescribed burns in the Echo Canyon Unit starting tomorrow, September 24th. Burning operations will take place over multiple days when weather and fuel conditions are favorable for ignition.
Prescribed burning operations on the USDA Forest Service - San Juan National Forest, Pagosa Ranger District, Echo Canyon Unit, have concluded ignitions for today, September 25th, at 4:50pm. Crews completed 40% of the prescribed 550-acre goal. Weather and fuel conditions permitting, the San Juan National Forest Prescribed Fire Project will continue tomorrow on the Echo Canyon Unit. If weather conditions are not deemed favorable for ignition, the prescribed burn will be re-scheduled for a later date. Some smoke may be visible through the next few days. 
PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo., September 6th, 2023— The San Juan National Forest’s Pagosa Ranger District is planning to conduct several prescribed burns starting in September. Burning operations may take place over multiple days when weather and fuel conditions are favorable for meeting objectives described in the prescribed fire plan. Burning operations will utilize both hand and aerial ignitions and will be conducted by Forest Service personnel and cooperating agencies.
Ignitions for the USDA Forest Service - San Juan National Forest Prescribed Fire Project continue today, September 27th, 2023, at 11am on the Echo Canyon Unit within the Pagosa Ranger District, USDA Forest Service - San Juan National Forest.Today's continued operation is located west of Rito Blanco Ranch on the southern end of the #SanJuanNF. Resources have scheduled to finish the Echo Canyon prescribed burn with Block 4. Crews are looking for a completed burn goal of 200-acres.
Prescribed burning operations on the USDA Forest Service - San Juan National Forest Southern HD Unit East 4 block have concluded for today, September 20th, at 5:36pm. Crews completed 40% of the 500-acre goal. Weather and fuel conditions permitting, the San Juan National Forest Prescribed Fire Project will continue tomorrow on the East 4 block of Southern HD Unit. If weather conditions are not favorable for ignition, the prescribed burn will be re-scheduled for a later date. 
The San Juan NF Dolores District has started a prescribed burn about 5 miles NE of Dolores in the Boggy Draw area.  If you see smoke coming from that area, please do NOT call 911.The fuels reduction project involves 2 burn units with a total of 1,094 acres, and will last 1-2 days. Crews from the Dolores District as well as other local and regional fire agencies are on site, helping to carry out the burn project and keep it within defined boundaries.
