A Message from Your Dolores District Ranger 
Hay Camp Prescribed Burn Postponed 05-10-2024

A prescribed burn of approximately 700 acres in the Hay Camp Mesa on the Dolores Ranger District, tentatively scheduled for May 10, has been postponed. Weather conditions will not be favorable. Fire managers will continue to look for favorable weather periods when the burn can be safely and effectively carried out. This site will be updated when and if the burn is rescheduled.
The Columbine and Dolores Ranger Districts on the San Juan National Forest have outlined their plans for the Fall Prescribed Fire Program.   The Columbine District has identified two areas for burn implementation: · Beaver Meadows: Approximately 2,000 acres planned, located 10 miles northeast of Bayfield
The Boggy Draw prescribed fire began on June 21st, 2023, but has not resumed on the 22nd because of adverse conditions. Firefighters remain in the area in order to keep the fire within its prescribed boundaries. Updates will be posted to this site if active ignitions resume.
Prescribed Burn Update

A prescribed burn that was planned for Boggy Draw on the Dolores Ranger District for the last week of May/first week of June was postponed. The weather forecast was not favorable for burning. Land managers are continually evaluating conditions and burning may take place in mid-June.
