Red Flag conditions forecast for Anderson Complex today, tomorrow  WEATHER: The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning beginning at noon today and lasting through Sunday night. A Red Flag Warning is issued when low humidity, high temperatures, and strong winds are expected to combine to cause fires to spread rapidly. Over the next two days temperatures are expected to be in the high 80s to low 90s with low humidity and Chinook winds with sustained speeds of 20 to 30 mph out of the south.  

Anderson Complex crews expect to see increased fire activity  Warmer, dryer weather is forecast for the Anderson Complex area beginning today. Fire activity is expected to increase. In advance of this change in the weather, firefighters have spent the past several days working to protect structures along the Teklanika River; find and extinguish spot fires along the river; assess and improve fire breaks around the city of Anderson; and identify and assess structures in the Kobe Ag subdivision, Clear Sky subdivision, and Rose Hip Creek area. 

Anderson Complex crews fully engaged in protecting structures, allotments  FIRE UPDATE: Fire crews remain fully engaged in protecting structures and allotments from the fires that make up the Anderson Complex. Over the past several days more personnel and equipment have arrived in Anderson for assignment to one of the firefighting groups established by Great Basin Team 3. The people in these groups each play a specific role in protecting life and property, and their critical needs are being met. 

On Sunday evening, the Teklanika River Fire was reported to be 5,444 acres; the Birch Creek Fire was estimated at 1,167 acres; the Nenana River Fire was 0.2 acres; the Nenana River 2 Fire was 0.1 acres; and the Kobe Road Fire was 0.1 acres. The more accurate acreage for the Kobe Road Fire is the result of improved visibility, reconnaissance flights, and ground assessments conducted Sunday.

Evacuation status to change for some areas impacted by Anderson Complex  EVACUATION STATUS: Today the Denali Borough and state of Alaska will change the evacuation status for some areas impacted by fires in the Anderson Complex. The change will be made based on information from Great Basin Team 3.

Anderson Complex fire crews make most of cool, wet weather  FIRE UPDATE: Firefighters assigned to the Anderson Complex have been able to complete a number of critical assignments thanks to three days of cooler weather and measurable rainfall. The weather has reduced fire activity, allowing Great Basin Team 3 to move crews to other areas within the complex or make them available for reassignment to other fires around the state. There has been no significant change in acreage in several days.
