Photo showing the low-severity fire effects and the fire containment line

The Salmon Fire has been burning approx. 3 miles north-east of Oakridge, Oregon in steep, forested terrain. The fire was reported August 6 in the afternoon and firefighters immediately began suppression efforts. The fire resisted initial suppression, and on August 7 the firefighting effort was assigned to NW IMT12, the Incident Management Team that was working on the nearby Bedrock Fire.

On Sunday August 20 command of the fire was transferred back to Willamette National Forest fire personnel. The fire is now in a patrol status. Firefighters monitor and reinforce fire lines as necessary to keep any remaining fire within the established control lines. This page will no longer be updated unless there are significant new developments.
