Planned actions for today will be to have dozer crews construct and improve containment lines around the fire. Engine crews will patrol and mop up hot spots close to the fire perimeter. Aerial resources will be utilized when available.
Fire Weather: Initially southeast winds at 4-7 mph will become east-southeast at 7-10 mph early this afternoon. Relative humidity values at 55-60% this morning will drop below 40% by or before noon. Minimum relative humidity by late afternoon will be near 25%. High temperatures will reach the mid 90s.

Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) were very effective in checking up the fire quickly. Ground crews were able to gain access and make significant progress in constructing containment line. Resources will return tomorrow to continue constructing containment line, patrolling, and mopping up hot spots.

Planned actions for today will be to have dozer crews construct and improve containment lines around the fire. Engine crews will patrol and mop up hot spots close to the fire perimeter. Aerial resources will be utilized when available.
Fire Weather: Winds near the fire site will persist out of the east-southeast for the next 24 to 36 hours with speeds generally below 15 mph. Temperatures will remain warm today in the mid 90s and humidity will fall near 20%. Similar conditions are expected tomorrow. No rain or thunderstorms are expected.

Location: approximately 7 miles east of Monahans, Texas
Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) were very effective at stopping forward progression of the fire. Ground crews had difficulties accessing the area due to deep sand. Dozer crews made significant progress on constructing containment line. Engine crews patrolled and mopped up hot spots. All resources will return tomorrow to continue fire suppression efforts.

The closure for the Cinnabar Fire area has been lifted. Hunters and others entering recently burned areas should exercise caution and understand that fire can create forest hazards. Fire-weakened trees may fall suddenly, and roots of trees can burn underground creating ash pits that may not be readily visible. Burned forests are especially hazardous in windy conditions.

Supervisor’s Order
TRAIL CLOSURE
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. §§ 261.50(a) and 261.50 (b), the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System land described below, within the Missoula Ranger District on the Lolo National Forest, Granite County, Montana and the Stevensville Ranger District on the Bitterroot National Forest, Ravalli County, Montana.
PROHIBITIONS
1. Being on the trail. 36 C.F.R. § 261.55 (a).
CLOSED TRAIL1. Bitterroot/Rock Creek Divide Trail, NFST #313, from milepost 0.00 starting at the Eightmile Saddle (T10N, R18W, Sect. 2) to milepost 6.59 ending at Cinnabar Saddle (T10N, R18W, Sect. 35).
PURPOSEThe purpose of this order is for public health and safety due to hazardous conditions resulting from fire activities.
EXEMPTIONS
Pursuant to Title 36 C.F.R § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:
1. Persons with a special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this order. 36 C.F.R § 261.50(e)(1).
2. Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in performance of an official duty. 36 C.F.R § 261.50(e)(4).
VIOLATION
Violation of this prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both (16 U.S.C. § 551 and 18 U.S.C. § 3559, 3571, and 3581).
IMPLEMENTATION
This order will be in effect starting September 28, 2020 and will remain in effect until rescinded.
