Level 3: GO NOW Evacuation Alert 10-02-2024

Bingham Fire
Publication Type: Announcement - 10/02/2024 - 10:11

Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan is informing the public about the BINGHAM FIRE burning in east Linn County between Marion Lake and Pamelia Lake, along the Bingham Ridge Trail. The fire started yesterday, and was initially reported to be 10 to 20 acres in size, and has grown to approximately 180 acres.

A LEVEL 3: GO NOW! Evacuation Alert is being issued for a large area of the Mount Jefferson Wilderness Area of the Willamette National Forest. This evacuation is being coordinated with the United States Forest Service. Please refer to the Linn County Wildfire Map https://tinyurl.com/LinnCoFireMap

This LEVEL 3: GO NOW! Evacuation Alert means that all roads, hiking trails, campgrounds, lakes, and recreational areas within the LEVEL 3 Evacuation Area are closed. The public should not enter the LEVEL 3 Evacuation Area. Emergency crews and response vehicles will be heavily present, and public traffic can hinder their efforts to fight the fire.

Sheriff Duncan wants everyone to know that the large evacuation area is necessary to give wildfire response teams enough space to safely travel and fight the fire, as crews will be on road systems, trails, and air assets may be utilizing nearby water sources. The fire itself is much smaller than the evacuation area.

Additionally, Sheriff Duncan is issuing a LEVEL 2: GET SET Evacuation for the area around Marion Forks Campground, and fish hatchery. The Level 2 evacuation area also extends along Highway 22, to ½-mile west of Highway 22, from Pamelia Road (NFS Road 2246) south to Parrish Lake Road (NFS Road 2266).

Please refer to the Linn County Wildfire Map
