Firefighters are working to fully suppress eight fires, totaling approximately 35,650 acres. The fires have shown no growth in the past 24 hours. In total there are 686 people assigned to these fires. Firefighters are using direct and indirect tactics to respond to all the fires. Three of the fires in the Homestead Complex are 100% contained: the Salmon 33 Fire (275 acres) on August 24; the Reynolds Butte Fire (334 acres) on August 22; and the Lost Bucket Fire (34 acres) on July 29.

Crews are improving indirect containment lines by reducing fuels through mastication, chipping wood, and hauling fuel to landings away from the fire. There are still many miles of uncontained fire edge. Firefighters are accessing and extinguishing hot spots and continue finding and suppressing spot fires outside of the main fires. Crews are also clearing and repairing roads impacted by the fires and by fire suppression activities to ensure continued access.

On the Horse Heaven Fire (2,741 acres, 56% containment), crews have recently found spot fires requiring additional work. Road clean-up, chipping and log hauling is underway on other flanks of the fire.

On the Fuller Lake Fire (3,690 acres, 0% containment) the plan is to continue mopping up, chipping, road clearing, and locating additional control lines.

On the Bullpup Fire (535 acres, 7% containment), crews are chipping and clearing culverts and ditches on the 200 Road that is serving as a primary control line. The priority objective for fire managers is to prevent the fire from progressing further north toward critical habitat for wild steelhead (the Frank and Jeanne Moore Wild Steelhead Special Management Area).

On the No Man Fire (2,090 acres, 44% containment), crews are working near Chilcoot Mountain to suppress a persistent hot spot on the south flank. Crews are also patrolling, mopping-up, chipping, hauling logs and conducting suppression repair operations.

On the Lane 1 Fire (25,951 acres, 99% containment),clean-up and suppression repair work will continue around the fire. The work includes chipping vegetation and hauling logs, as well as repairing forest road infrastructure. Clearing vegetation and repairing roads will also make travel safer for the public once public lands closures are removed.

Closures and fire restrictions: Two closure orders impact every District of the Umpqua National Forest https://t.ly/Mvn6G. The forest is in High Fire Danger with Public Use Restrictions at Level 2 https://t.ly/LI4cdA Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Roseburg District closure order is in effect for portions of BLM land bordering the Umpqua National Forest closure north of Steamboat https://t.ly/uWX6l. A BLM Northwest Oregon District closure is also in place for an area west of the Lane 1 fire https://t.ly/oW1lG.

Weather: Cooler weather with higher humidity will continue through the week, with periods of rainfall expected mid-week. The following period of warmer, drier weather may increase fire behavior in limited areas.
