Pile Burn Update 11-18-2024
Lolo National Forest Prescribed Fire Operations

Conditions permitting, pile burning efforts will continue today across the Lolo National Forest to reduce hazardous fuels from previous vegetation management operations.
Missoula Ranger District: Fire managers plan to burn up to 57 acres of hand piles on the Granite Graves project located 2 miles up Graves Creek. Smoke may be visible from Highway 12.
Ninemile Ranger District: Firefighters plan to continue pile burn operations on the 15-acre Frenchtown Face project, located approximately 4.5 miles east of the Ranger District in the Sixmile drainage. Smoke will likely be seen from Frenchtown and the surrounding area.
Superior Ranger District: Firefighters will burn up to 30 acres of pile burning operations 5 miles northwest of St. Regis in Mullan Gulch. Smoke may be visible from Superior and Interstate 90.
Seeley Lake Ranger District: Firefighters will conduct up to 60 acres of pile burning on the Westside Bypass Project area located 5 miles northwest of Seeley Lake. Smoke may be visible from Seeley Lake and Highway 83.
Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger District: Firefighters will burn up to 40 acres of piles located 3 miles northwest of Plains. Smoke may be visible from Plains and Highway 200.
