The Siphon Fire is currently 15,527 acres with 32% containment. The acreage change is due to more accurate mapping. Crews continue to patrol and monitor the fire’s perimeter and improve existing firelines. Minimal growth expected on the east and south flanks of the fire. With temperatures gradually cooling, humidity levels will increase through Monday resulting in chances for showers and thunderstorms. A Type 3 helicopter will be utilized for accurate mapping and recon mission of steep inaccessible terrain. There are 82 personnel assigned to the fire including 2 hand crews, 6 engines and 2 water tenders. The public is advised to avoid the First Water, Boulder, Siphon Trails and Forest Road 78 while the Siphon Fire is active.
Maricopa County has moved residents from GO status and lifted the evacuation order. The roadblock has been removed by Arizona Department of Transportation and SR 88 (Apache Trail) is open.
