Buckhorn Fire Reaches 51% Containment
Overview: Firefighters had productive day on the Buckhorn Fire. Although the workday was shortened by heavy rain and thunderstorms, crews were able to complete a section of handline near Bull Ridge. The section will connect two previously constructed dozer lines and complete the containment perimeter on the northeastern edge of the fire. Crews were also able to complete the removal of brush along the 2030 Road. Today, firefighters will be patrolling and monitoring the fire. With the recent rain, Central West Zone Incident Management Team will begin releasing resources working on the Buckhorn Fire. This will allow crews to be redeployed to other fires in the area.
Weather: Yesterday brought substantial rainfall to the Buckhorn Fire. Today is expected to show a similar pattern with storms forming in the northwest and moving to the south. The storms could bring winds gusts of up to 45 mph and heavy rains. Outside of the storm fronts, southerly winds of 5-10 mph are expected.
