Incident Command Post on a fire is where most support personnel are stationed. This includes the overhead staff working on finances to get firefighters and contractors agreements and payments in place, logistics to support everything from setting up catering and showers to getting supplies out to the fireline, and the planning group tracking resources and producing operations maps.

Fighters used handtools to extinguish hot spots in areas surrounding private structures.

While some areas of the forest burned hot, there are also pockets in the background where the fire only minimally effected the forest. Photo Credit: Russ Hamilton

Some of the hazards present around the fire area include fire weakened trees that could fall.

Throughout an incident base camp serves as the center for firefighers when they aren't working on the fire area. These areas include catering food tents, parking and camping areas, and areas for morning and evening briefings.

Within the fire area there were downed powerlines. Utility companies have since repaired those lines where they can. Photo taken on 8/22/2023 by Nathan Goodrich
