The Ukonom Interagency Hotshot Crew was established in 2008 as the 1st Hotshot Crew in the history of the Six Rivers National Forest, the 15th in Northern California, the 41st in Region Five, and the 105th Hotshot Crew in the Nation. Prior to 2003 the Six Rivers National Forest history had been comprised of various BD (Brush Disposal) and 10-person Initial Attack crews, followed by the Orleans/Ukonom Type 1 and 2 Initial Attack (IA) crews.
