Williams Mine Fire Update for Monday, August 26, 2024KEY MESSAGES:In the coming days, some of the closures and restrictions in the areas around the Williams Mine Fire will be reduced and some rescinded. As closures change, the public is asked to ensure they follow existing closure information as firefighters will still be working in the area. Many roads and trails will continue to have staff working around them and road guards on closed roads will still be present. 

Williams Mine Fire Update for Sunday, August 25, 2024 KEY MESSAGES:As mission objectives continue to be met, firefighters and support equipment will begin demobilizing from the incident. As containment increases, hoses and other fire suppression equipment are being backhauled off the fire line. This equipment will be staged at a central location, returned to the fire cache, and become available for other priority incidents. 

Williams Mine Fire Update for Saturday, August 24, 2024 KEY MESSAGES:Yesterday, Klickitat County lifted the last remaining evacuation level for Trout Lake. For more information, please visit the Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office page. The public should be aware for emergency alerts if conditions change.

Williams Mine Fire Update for Thursday, August 22, 2024 KEY MESSAGES:All direct lines are now established and in place around the southern fire perimeter. Mop up operations will continue until these lines no longer pose a threat to perimeter security. Significant operational effort has been put in on the south end of the fire protecting values at risk and fire managers feel great progress has been made meeting these community objectives.

KEY MESSAGES: Specialized equipment such as chippers and dump trucks are working through the road systems to facilitate slash removal.  The Williams Mine Fire is slowly reducing other firefighting resources from the operation as containment continues to increase.
