10-8-24— Overnight infrared mapped the Yellow Lake Fire 19,903 acres and 10% containment. As a small storm system moves into the area, the smoke inversion settled into the surrounding valleys, along with ash in some areas. This was predicted, and the increase in smoke does not mean an increase in fire activity or an increased threat.

The Yellow Lake Fire is currently at 10% containment and 16,053 acres. Firefighters had slightly better weather as the winds died down in the morning, giving crews more favorable conditions to engage the fire. The fire continues to be resistant to control and remains highly active and growing.

The Yellow Lake Fire continues to burn and is now mapped at 15,891 acres with 7% containment. No contained perimeter has been lost in the past few days, but the containment percentage decreased due to the increase in acreage. Currently, 459 personnel are assigned to the fire.

October 6, 2024 - The Yellow Lake Fire burned aggressively again yesterday. Supported by wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour, relative humidity in the 20s; the fire has more than tripled in acreage. It is now mapped at 15,106 acres, with 7% containment. There are 471 personnel assigned to the fire.

Red flag conditions—including high winds, record-breaking temperatures, extremely low humidity, and unseasonably dry weather—have increased both fire activity and visible smoke, as expected.During the predicted wind event, multiple wind-driven spot fires occurred further north across Highway 35 and the gas pipeline, establishing themselves in timber and producing more visible smoke. Due to this spotting, the fire has grown, with its new size and acreage to be measured overnight using infrared technology.

Oct 4, 2024— Thanks to continued hard work by fire crews, the Yellow Lake Fire is 18% contained, and currently mapped at 3112 acres. With the increased acreage, the containment percentage has decreased slightly. A red flag warning is in effect, and the area continues to see unseasonably high warm and dry conditions.

Oct 3,2024— Firefighters are working diligently on the Yellow Fork Fire, and it is now 6% contained. The current acreage is 2,560. Despite containment only slowly increasing, firefighters are making progress on the fire.
