SILVER CITY, NM, June 19, 2024 – Current acreage of the Antone Fire remains at 12,396 acres and is 91 percent completed. There are 35 personnel assigned to the incident and those resources will continue to patrol the perimeter. Observed fire behavior has been minimal, characterized by creeping and smoldering which is why the closure order for the area remains in effect for public safety.
SILVER CITY, NM, 19 de junio, 2024 – La superficie actual del Incendio Antone sigue siendo de 12,396 acres y se ha completado en un 91 por ciento. Hay 35 personas asignadas al incidente y esos recursos continuarán patrullando el perímetro del área afectada. El comportamiento observado del fuego ha sido mínimo, caracterizado por el arrastre lento de llamas y el humo proveniente de los focos de emanación de calor. SILVER CITY, NM, 17 de junio, 2024 – Los bomberos están enfocados en el trabajo de reparación de supresión lo cual consiste en una serie de acciones adoptadas para mitigar los impactos causados por las actividades en la extensión del incendio. SILVER CITY, NM, June 17, 2024 – Firefighters are working on suppression repair work, which involves a series of actions taken to mitigate impacts caused by firefighting activities. Firefighters completed chipping slash along the entire perimeter and will be mitigating fire-weakened trees along roads, fence lines, and trails. Additionally, road maintenance will continue on County Road 13. The Antone Fire is at 12,396 acres and 60 percent completed. There are 72 personnel supporting the incident.
SILVER CITY, NM, 15 de junio, 2024 – Todas las líneas de contención resistieron la presencia de tormentas y ráfagas de vientos pronosticados para el viernes. SILVER CITY, NM, June 15, 2024 – All containment lines held through Friday’s forecast of thunderstorms and gusty winds. For the next couple of days, firefighters will focus on securing the northern perimeter of the fire. Crews will continue to patrol the eastern section while on the southern side, they will complete mop-up and prepare for chipping. The Antone Fire is at 12,397 acres and 50 percent completed. There are 138 personnel assigned to the incident.

SILVER CITY, NM, June 13, 2024 –Firefighters have made substantial progress on the Antone Fire. Crews will be securing the perimeter simultaneously with ignitions being conducted on the northern half of the fire. Mop-up continues on the southern portion. There are currently 150 personnel assigned to the incident.“Unfortunately, smoke is a byproduct of all fires and sadly it’s unavoidable,” said Quemado District Ranger and long-time local, Randall Chavez. “We appreciate the public’s patience and support while firefighters complete their work.”
SILVER CITY, NM, June 11, 2024 – An area closure is in effect for the Antone fire in the Quemado Ranger District, Gila National Forest. “This closure order is necessary to maintain our top priority which is always to protect firefighters and provide for public safety,” said Quemado District Ranger, Randall Chavez. “Active fire and firefighter activity on the ground and in the air require the public to avoid the area so that firefighters can focus on their operations.”
