Personnel also continue to remove snags in the Crystal Creek area. The crews on the west side continue to remove excess fuel down Railroad Creek and fortify the fire line.
Crews on both the western and eastern sides of the fire have completed masticating and chipping actions in targeted areas to remove excess fuel. They continue strengthening fuel breaks into existing fuel treatment areas. Preparing for the anticipated hotter, drier weather, personnel are scouting for more areas to treat and establish more containment opportunities, especially in the south and west sections of the area. Those recreating or traveling in or through the fire area are encouraged to be aware of the situation and to pay attention to increased fire traffic.
Crews along the western edge of the fire area continue to fortify and extend handlines along FS Road 711 and towards Railroad Creek. They continue strengthening fuel breaks into existing fuel treatment areas.  Crews along the eastern edge continue to utilize hand crews to construct a fuel break along FS Road 5071 north towards Highway 38.
On the west side crews continue fire line construction and chipping along Forest Road 711 to serve as an indirect (away from the fire’s edge) control line for containment. On the east side, crews continue constructing fire lines. Crews on both sides will continue scouting for more areas to treat and establish more containment opportunities, especially in the south and west portion of the area.
