The Nevada Team 3 Incident Management Team will be transferring command of the Bowles Creek fire to the Bitterroot and Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forests on September 4th. All future updates will be posted to the Forest Facebook pages and the Inciweb site.  Frequency of updates will be dictated by fire activity and/or changes to operations and closures.

The Bowles Creek Fire is currently at 6,988 acres. Fire crews will be present along Hwy 38, Skalkaho Road, as fire suppression repair work along firelines, roads, trails, safety zones, and drop points continues. This work involves immediate post-fire actions taken to minimize environmental impacts resulting from fire suppression activities.

Fire crews will be present along Hwy 38, Skalkaho Road, as fire operations and fire rehabilitation work continue. Motorist are urged to be aware of falling branches and debris as thunderstorms and wind gusts of 35-50 mph gusts after 1400. A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) has been removed and aviation is permitted over the fire area.

Additionally, motorists should be aware of debris on the road, as increased wind events and precipitation has increased the potential for falling trees.

Motorists traveling on the road are urged to drive with caution as firefighters will be present along the roadway. Additionally, because of the increased precipitation and winds in the area, multiple trees have fallen along Hwy 38. Motorists should remain vigilant while driving.

The Nevada Team 3 Incident Management Team is managing the Bowles Creek Fire. The Bowles Creek Fire is currently at 6,847 acres. The fire completion has increased to 23%. Fire crews along Hwy 38 continue to work in the area. Motorists are urged to drive slowly and with caution. The public should also be aware the area will see a drying trend over the next several days, which may increase fire activity and smoke along the roadways.  

Crews on the east side continue to construct a fuel break in the fire area. Chipping operations continue along FS Road 5070 south towards Sand Basin Creek. Snag removal operations continue in the Crystal Creek area. The crews on the west side continue to secure the line down to Railroad Creek, fortify the fire line and install hose lays.
