Evacuations orders have been downgraded for Valley County residents effective yesterday September 20, 2024 (see below). Overview: The Lava Fire is on the Boise and Payette National Forests and lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management and the Idaho Department of Lands. The fire is located north of Emmett and west of Lake Cascade and started by lightning on Monday, September 2. It is burning in tall grass, brush, and timber.  
 Friday September 20, 2024All evacuations orders have been lifted for Gem County starting at 8:00 a.m. today.The Boise and Payette National Forest reduced the Lava-Boulder Fire Closure Order effective today, opening more areas to the public (see below). Emmett and Cascade Ranger Districts on the Boise National Forests rescinded Stage 1 fire restrictions effective at 8:00 a.m. today. 
Thursday September 19, 2024Emmett and Cascade Ranger Districts on the Boise National Forests are rescinding Stage 1 fire restrictions beginning at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow Friday, September 20, 2024. A Community Meeting will be held in Ola tomorrow Friday, September 19, at 7:00 p.m. at the Ola Community Hall, 21750 Main Street, Ola, Idaho.
Wednesday September 18, 2024 Gem County and Adam County downgraded evacuation levels per Sheriff’s Offices (see below). Emmett and Cascade Ranger Districts on the Boise National Forests are rescinding Stage 1 fire restrictions beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024.  
Tuesday September 17, 2024Per Gem County Sherriff’s Office please note that county roads closed by the fire remain closed (listed below).Adams County Sheriff’s Office downgraded to level 1 “READY” for all Adams County residents.

Saturday September 14, 2024Overview: The Lava Fire is on the Boise and Payette National Forests and lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management and the Idaho Department of Lands. The fire is located north of Emmet and west of Lake Cascade and started by lightning on Monday, September 2nd and is burning in tall grass, brush, and timber. The Lava Fire is currently 95,697 acres with 16 percent containment and 824 personnel assigned.

Special Notes: As of 6am today, the Boulder Fire is part of the Lava Fire, being managed by the Southern Area Red Complex Incident Management Team. The Lava Fire is currently 93,751 acres with 6 percent containment. *** There will be a Community Meeting on Friday September 13th at 7:00 PM at the Ola Community Center 2175 Main Street, Ola, ID***
