As of 7 am today, a Type 4 Team took over management of the fire.CURRENT SITUATION: Containment is now at 89% with only one section of line, along Lost Creek on the southern boundary, remaining unfinished. Aggressive mop-up is being done in that area. In addition to completing the southern containment line, the remaining firefighters are mopping up, patrolling, and securing the fire lines. Backhaul of hose and other fire equipment has also begun.

CURRENT SITUATION: Yesterday, firefighters were able to complete mop-up, hose lays, and hazardous tree removal in several areas around the fire perimeter. This work significantly increased the fire’s containment, including along the west side, down to the southern edge, and the southeast line between Forest Road 3N01 and Lost Creek. Crews continue to hold and monitor these areas and the eastern containment line along Forest Road 3N01.

CURRENT SITUATION:  Yesterday, firefighters performed hand ignitions between the fire line off of Forest Road 3N01 to the slowly progressing fire’s northeast edge, facilitating the consumption of unburned fuel and further securing the line.

CURRENT SITUATION:  The northeastern flank of the fire adjacent to Forest Road 3N01 continues to be the most active area of the fire, experiencing creeping, smoldering and some isolated torching. As the fire moved north, firefighters burned from Forest Road 3N01 back into the fire, widening the containment line and burning out some of the remaining interior pockets of fuels. The fire is burning between Forest Roads 2N85 and 3N01.

CURRENT SITUATION: The eastern flank of the fire adjacent to Forest Road 3N01 experienced more active yesterday. Hand crews burned from Forest Road 3N01 back into the fire, widening the containment line and burning out some of the remaining interior fuel pockets. Most of the fire continues to experience low to moderate fire behavior and a slow rate of spread. Dozer line has been completed on the southeast side of the fire. Hand crews working from the west side of the fire were able to connect the line from Forest Road 2N29 and out of Bourland Creek to the dozer line.
