Smith River Complex North update for Thursday, September 7, 2023 GRANTS PASS, OR – Firefighters are taking advantage of moderated fire behavior across the incident. Equipment is enroute to the northwest side of the fire to construct contingency line. The team is preparing to conduct strategic burning operations in the next few days when conditions permit, which may increase smoke impacts to communities on the north side of the fire.

Smith River Complex North update for Wednesday, September 6, 2023  GRANTS PASS, OR – This morning, Northwest Incident Management Team 13 transferred command to the Alaska Incident Management Team for the north portion of the Smith River Complex, which is primarily located on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. Southwest Area Incident Management Team 2 continues to manage the south end of the fire, largely on the Six Rivers National Forest in California.

Smith River Complex North update for Tuesday, September 5, 2023 GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Despite one-half to one full inch of rainfall on the Smith River Complex North over the past four days, the fire is far from extinguished, fire managers cautioned Monday.
