Descanso Ranger District Fuel Treatments 03-05-2024

Today, fuel crews on Descanso Ranger District are burning 20 acres of piles off Los Hurcos Rd in the Mount Laguna area, and 15 acres of piles off Bear Valley Rd near Long Valley Rd south of Pine Valley. Residents & visitors may see smoke from Sunrise Hwy the I-8, and surrounding communities. Residents & visitors may see smoke from Sunrise Hwy the I-8, Pine Valley and surrounding communities. We ask the public not to call 911 if smoke is seen in these areas.

3/4/24 - The Cleveland National Forest (CNF) Palomar Ranger District (PRD) is set to initiate prescribed fire preparation on the following projects:Prescribed Fire Preparation:Jeff Valley (maps 1-2) – Crews may be working on handlines and various pile burn prep activities.Palomar Fuel breaks (map 3) – Crews may be working on various preparations for burning.Fry Creek (map 4) – Crews may be working on various preparations for burning.

#JeffValleyRxThe Palomar Ranger Districts experienced favorable weather and environmental conditions, enabling the implementation of prescribed fire activities across the Jeff Valley Fuel Project, firefighters achieved progress on 40 acres. This California Climate Investment grant and the Presidents Inflation Reduction Act which is a part of confronting the wildfire crisis.Residents and visitors in these areas may observe visible smoke throughout the evening. #RamonaFuelBreak #MountLagunaRx #DeerCreekRxThe Descanso and Palomar Ranger Districts in the Cleveland National Forest experienced favorable weather and environmental conditions, enabling the implementation of prescribed fire activities across the Mount Laguna, Deer Creek, and Ramona Fuel Break Projects. Firefighters successfully treated 12 acres in unit 58 off Los Huecos Road for the Mount Laguna Project and 40 acres in unit 6 off Deer Park Road for the Deer Creek Fuel Project.
