Simmons Fire Winding Down as Containment Reaches 85% 06-01-2024

Kearny, AZ (6/1/2024) – For the second night in a row the Simmons Fire stayed with its footprint with no new growth being reported. The fire is 351 acres and 85% contained.

Kearny, AZ (5/31/2024) – As of Friday, May 31, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office returns all residents impacted by the Simmons Fire back to Ready status. Due to the hard work of firefighters and significant containment within the last 24 hours, incident management and PCSO determined it was safe to lift the GO and SET statuses to residents within the Riverside and Kearny-areas. All residents may return home at this time. Power to the north end of Kearny was restored Thursday night.
POWER RESTORED TO PARTS OF KEARNY AS CREWS GET SOME CONTAINMENT ON SIMMONS FIRE 05-31-2024

Kearny, AZ (5/30/2024) – It was a successful day for crews on the Simmons Fire as they were able to secure line around sections of the fire and now have it 51% contained. The fire remains at 351 acres. Today’s objectives for fire resources included achieving fire control and reducing and mitigating impacts to private property and infrastructure. With those objectives met, fire overhead requested power to be fully restored to north Kearny residents.
Type 3 Incident Management Team Ordered for Simmons Fire Near Kearny 05-29-2024

Kearny, AZ (5/29/2024) – More than 100 personnel remain engaged with full suppression efforts on the Simmons Fire burning northwest of Kearny in Pinal County. Cooler overnight temperatures coupled with increased relative humidity levels kept fire activity quiet into the early morning hours. A night shift staffed with a hand crew and engines focused on the east and southeast flanks of the fire, ahead of the community of Kearny. Engine crews also conducted structure protection to properties ahead of the fire.
